they used to have this really really cool toy, similar to the view master...
they had this little tiny 8mm (I think) viewmasterish like viewer, and you would crank it or something, and hold it up to the light and watch this mini movie.... pretty cool. I don't know what the hell they were called or who made them. |

I liked to cork .You could make a corker with an old thread spool. I didn't have patterns back then so made lots of potholders.
We had imaginations in those days even if we didn't have money. ![]()

It looks like knitting. What is the difference?

There are no needles. You have a spool with 4 nails and you wind the wool back and forth then pull down thru the hole. As shown you end up with a circualr wool pattern-you can make simple things. It's nice for little ones cause it's easy to do. I taught my daughter to cork when she was young and this was in the 90's.She really enjoyed it.
How to do Corking
Corking also called Knitting Nancy or Spool Knitting is an easy knitting tool to make yourself and has many practical uses. With it, you can make a knitted cord of any thickness or length with different sizes of yarn or thread. Use the cord as ties or straps on clothing, accessories, or sew pieces together to create crafts for children or adults. Use metallic or variegated yarn or change colours as you work. Use baby yarn for a delicate cord or chunky yarn for a thick cord. Use to make necklaces, bracelets, hair bands. Add something extra to your gift package by wrapping with knitted cord. Sew pieces together to make hot pads, belts, tote bags or place mats. Insert a pipe cleaner through the centre and you will have a bendable cord. Sew cords together to make accessories for dolls.

Does anyone remember Hungry Hungry Hippos? We had this when we were kids and my 80 something grandfather from Iran was visiting and he thought it was the coolest thing ever. He bought a bunch back with him to Iran. To this day I have random visiting cousins asking me if I was the one who gave him the idea.
