I thin her more iconic role at this point is Tim Burton's charity case

maxxfisher wrote:What a dreadful list. Sorry but just because Julianne Moore is in a movie for 5 minutes doesn't mean she deserves to be nominated, y'all. And apparently there were no snubs in Best actress? |

I didn't see "A Single Man", is that really all she was in it? Several people have even WON Oscars for very little screen time, so there is a precedent.

She was in it for only a couple of scenes, Seagay. She had Colin over for dinner and drinks and that lasted maybe 10 minutes, tops. Other than that she was seen on the phone and such, for seconds. It would be a stretch to give her an Oscar for that role, but she did play it very, very well.
It doesn't matter...her time will come. |

Well, good to know that in 10 minutes worth of screentime once again Julianne makes her mark. <3

Dame Judy Dench won an Oscar for being in a film 8 minutes. It was playing Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love. (this brings back horrid memories of that nasty, ill fitting, peptobismol colored monstrosity that Gwyneth Paltrow had on that year when she won.

I'm not saying that short performances don't deserve Oscars. There are several that do (Viola Davis, Judi Dench, Beatrice Straight). But sometimes a cameo is just a cameo. I just don't understand how anybody can find anything special about Moore in A Single Man especially with her atrocious accent.

She was brilliant. American audiences don't care about nailing an English accent as long as it sounds Englsh, which it did. I hardly found it atrocious at all. Besides she didn't get a nomnation so what the fuck ever.

Abbie Cornish was to whom I was referring, but it looks like even that site didn't see Bright Star.

There were two separate entries for Original Screenplay. I'm as confused as you, though I still think that they probably meant "Surely one of these could have made it." |
