Wow. Did everyone give up on this show?
I thought it was pretty good tonight, a tad Keystone-coppish but still. I actually laughed aloud a couple of times, one when Nicki told Barb to slap Marg silly. |

Great episode!!! So much going on. It's dumb that they found out about Bill's arrest record before his polygamy but now that I think about it, that would be very easy to find and then they probably ran with it and stopped looking--for now.
Barb is a mess. |

And Ana is back too!
Looks like Ben is turned on by the compound look now. We may have another Hendrickson plural-marriage soon. I think Alby would love to set up Ben with a couple of comely young women from the Joy Book, just to throw a few more monkey wrenches at Bill. I loved all the wives tonight! |

Tonight was great, but my hatred for Bill grows more each week. When he ordered Barb to go fetch him his son to use as a political prop, I nearly lost my shit. I am starting to hope this season ends with Bill's assassination and next season we can watch the wives all move into a an apartment complex together with Jackee as the sassy neighbor.

so the guy that was on his phone and Nicki turned around and told him to hush because she was on a very important phone call - was the guy trying to get Bill's mug shot. Had Nicki not been too preoccupied she would have been able to warn them. Poor Tommy. I'm starting to like him and oddly enough, I want Barb to have a fling with him!

I can’t stand Bill, but in all fairness he didn’t do to Ben what Frank did to him. He asked him to go away for a few days, not go into exile. Bill’s opponent seems ruthless. There is no way he wouldn’t have discovered that he is a polygamist. The idea that Bill thinks he can just walk into the Senate and change laws is laughable. Plus, I guess he has never heard of a “recall election”. I just want Margene to pack her things, take her kids and get the heck out of there.

Tommy in his personal sweat lodge, nuff said. Literally the zenith of Native American soft-core porn possibilities. If not for Barb's knawing morality, we would have seen a serious late-night Cinemax moment.
I agree that Bill was unfairly chastised for his behavior towards Ben. That said, Bill is the biggest buffoon on the planet and I don't care what they do to him. Dangling over this entire, broken, imperfect season is the white elephant in the room -- in NO WAY will a polygamist be elected to a state-wide office, even in Utah. It is illegal behavior, and they have taken great pains to hide it in all prior seasons. Dozens of people know what's going on -- family members, neighbors. They're tied to one of the most notorious compounds in the country, and even the most local of reporters could find out their polygamist from just a minute amount of research. It's not enough that Bill wants to reveal 'the Principle' to the world; he's doing it in a surrepticious and deceptive manner. The two bright spots, once again, were Margene's various hilarious and heart-warming freakouts, and Nikki questioning her role in Bill's more sordid plots. I'm also intrigued by Adaleen and Nikki's lecherous ex-husband. On the downside, Sarah's character has gone downhill and I will not be sad to see her go at the end of the season. Plus, Amanda Seyfried is the star of the week's biggest film, so she'll be fine. And Aaron Paul has Breaking Bad, a far juicier role. On a final note -- I want Tancy to be hit by a truck. ETA: And one final, final note -- yay for the return of Ana!

I think Bill should get shit for exiling Ben. He told Ben to leave home with no idea of where he was going to end up. And Ben was making plans to leave for good. Everyone interpreted it as an exile because that's what it was.

I loved that Margene told them she had a bigger appetite for sex than they did and she needed one of their nights as an extra night for her. She could even buy it from them if need be because she can afford it! Ha!

I loved Daphne driving Bill and Paley and Margie and Sissy Spacek to the casino to find his mom, dad and brother there. They really need to bring back the skating on thin ice intro--really.

It's good to see I'm not the only one who liked this episode. Even though it was a little...silly?
In their world, Bill did in fact exile Ben. Considering their beliefs and their first hand knowledge of what "leave" means, he knew what he was doing. Maybe he didn't realize it was exactly the same as what happened to him. Saying it in a nice way instead of dumping him beside the road doesn't make it easier. He may not have thought out the end result, but he wanted Ben gone for good at the time he said it. I loved Barb's "You're a floozy, just like your mom" outburst. |

I literally gasped when she said "F YOU BARB!"
And when Barb kicked the table...OMG! Good stuff! |

It's moving so fast that by the end of the season I expect Ben to have celebrated his birthday on the compound by taking a couple of wives and living with Alby.

Carboys Desire wrote: I don't think it's the same. Unlike Bill, Ben will not be a “lost boy”. He won’t have to sell his body, steal, rob and live on the street. Ben blew everything out of proportion. He is angry with his father because Margene chose to stay with him. Last season when Bill found out that Nicki was spying for Roman, he kicked her out. Now that she is spying for him, she is a “good girl”. I have a feeling Barb and Nicki can barely tolerate Margene. Nicki was quick to side with Barb even though she didn’t know what the argument was about. |
