Helena Bonham Carter is awesome. I can't believe anyone would hate her.
It shouldn't be that hard to believe, I'm sure there are people on this site who would say they hate Mother Theresa, lol.

Courtney had a Oscar worthy performance? What movie? 97 was all about Titanic, Scream 2, I know what you did Last Summer for me <3

I had thought she did get an Oscar nom, but just checked and didn't see it although she did win several critics awards. I thought it was a great performance.

Tim Burton is AWESOME. Fuck you guys! "Nightmare Before Christmas" still stands as one of my all-time favorites. His MoMA exhibit btw is fantastic. If you ever come to NY before April 26, it's worth checking out.

I just imdb'd Burton's movies. I liked Peewee's Big Adventure and Big Fish only. Alice In Wonderland looks promising, but so did Sweeney Todd.

I love Viola Davis, but I thought people had her over-rated in "Doubt." When I finally went to see it, I was like "That's what people are saying was so awesome?"

Davis's hollywood career is taking a sad turn. Now they only use her in movies when they need her to yell at somebody. |

im was looking at violas imdb page and she has 3 movies coming out in 2010, which is good as the oscar nom helped that but shes still being like 5th and 6th billed. youd think an oscar nom would of helped her get lead or 2nd or 3rd. geez. i mean even taraji henson had gotten her own lead role and shes going to be lead in the karate kid too. maybe its her age? idk. shes still a great actress though.
and about davis' performance being overrated. you have to also look at her competition. that year was very weak. so yes it may have looked like it was just an OK performance but given there wasnt much else competition that year... she easily was one of the top 5 performances for BSA, and easily got the nom. had this been a diff year with stiffer competition, she and that god awful amy adams may not of even been nominated. i mean hell the oscar was hers or penelopes for that year so that goes to show you how there just wasnt much to work with, lol. not saying they werent good in their own right, but these performances of judge based on specific years rather than overall. |

I decided to get some of the "crap" out of the way this weekend and watched Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, Avatar, and Nine. I was pleseantly surprised by Imaginarium, basically the idea of the film was that the immortal Parnassus constantly made deals with Mr Nick (Satan) played by Tom Waits. I've never been that big of a Terry Gilliam fan but with a much better cast then he typically gets the film worked. Heath Ledger is pretty good in this and they work around his death very well.
Avatar was better then I thought it would be, while the dialogue was stunted I didn't roll my eyes at it as much as I thought I would. I don't know if it's the best picture of the year, or even better than any of the other top ten blockbusters of all time but it was okay. Nine was awful, Danial Day Lewis sings like a drunk dracula, I also didn't quite get the point of the film. The songs were some of the most forgettable of all time. Only Penelope Cruz and FERGIE!@#! numbers were worth a damn some were outright dreadful a fat Kate Hudson waddling around using hairography that Britney would be disgusted by. Marion Cottillard was WASTED on two numbers of songs I forgot 5 minutes later. And the three old ladies Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Nicole Kidman were just sad.grim.pathetic.
