That is no different than what Clay did while on the show. Adam is implying that gay people will do better on Idol now because of him. That's bullshit. It was obvious to a lot of people that both Clay and Adam were gay without them saying it. There were also cows from both fanbases that refused to believe it until they came out officially. Neither Adam nor Clay said they were gay to the Idol audience while they were on the show. Adam (and his delusional fans) liked to pretend he is breaking down some barrier. He isn't.

That would be Jim Verraros, who came out of the closet to The Advocate shortly after S1 ended. This bitch needs to quit acting like he's some sort of pioneer for the LGBT community, especially since he first claimed he didn't want to be one. Wasn't Glambert the one who claimed to be an "artist" and not a "poster boy for the LGBT community"?

He also sold more. Notice how Adamtards always have to use qualifiers for his "accomplishments". And those qualifiers are always about him being gay. It's never anything related to him doing something special with music.

My two cousins came out in their late 20s. It took a lot of courage for them to do so as they didn't live in a progressive state or have liberal parents who were cool with their sons being gay. He KNEW they believed him to be straight and he not only let them keep believing it, he encouraged it with his comments about all the lies and false rumors about him being gay. it's kind of ironic that some people here act like what Adam has done is no big deal even with stories like the one you just told whitetrash about how difficult it was for your cousins. It IS very difficult to come out and be open about being gay in this country; especially on the grand scale which Adam did it. Do you not think that PERHAPS Adam's courage to come out on a national stage and be PROUD of his sexuality might, in whatever small way, help some young gay kid who is struggling the same way your cousins did? Don't they NEED someone to look up to that says it's okay to be who you are and that if you believe in yourself you can be whoever and whatever you want, regardless of your sexuality. His little brother was in high school and later in the Marines and I'm sure Clay was worried that he would be given a rough time over it, and who needs that worry on top of his safety in Iraq and whether his Mom and grandparents would be shunned at church and within their social circles. Sure it would also probably lose him fans but I can't imagine that was his first priority. What's this crap about him letting his fans defend him. As if he had any control over them. Look at your own favorites, glitter. Could Kelly have made you treat Clay fairly by simply asking you to be nice to her friend? No. Can Adam get his Cows to calm the fuck down? No. So why would you expect Clay to be superhuman and be able to control his fans? There were a shitload of lies told, and regardless of whether he is gay or not, the stalker that lied about him in the tabloids is still a liar. When the gossips said Clay was courting Adam to duet with him it was a lie. When the tabloids said he was thrown off the Idol set last year it was a lie. When the stalker impersonates Clay on the internet sites, twitter, manhunt and instant messages etc, those are lies. When the gossip bitch, Shirley Halperin, wrote that un-named sources say that Clay was dropped by RCA, that was a lie. There are plenty more lies through the years that have harmed his reputation because assholes like you repeat them to hurt him. Damn right his fans go to bat for him. So do you when there is shit out there about your favorites and they appreciate the support just like Clay does. BTW, it took no courage for Adam to come out, he had no one to protect and it wasn't news to anyone of his family or friends. He was just waiting for the platform that would give him the most publicity. Clay is just a nice guy who wanted to sing and to be allowed his privacy when it came to his private life. Certain people assumed/sensed that he was gay from the beginning. I wasn't one of them but that's on me. He was treated badly from day one for being perceived to be gay and not coming out. Gossips bashed him, crazies tried to out him with stories of internet trolling and kinky sex. No one has had so much ridicule and pressure as Clay has endured for years and years. I find it ironic and funny that Adam says he just wants to be a singer and not a poster boy for gays. Clay is now out and proud to be who he is but he still gets bashed for not being faster or something equally stupid and unfair. So STFU, glitter. I come from a large conservative Catholic family including a monsignor, priest, and a nun. That is a lot of pressure for these guys and takes a lot of courage. They may not be on as large a scale as Adam, but their story and the lives they touch is just as important, if not more..

He seems happy, with a cute boyfriend, a new label, new CD, a PBS special and other good stuff coming this year. If it had been me treated that way, I would be curled up in a corner sucking my thumb. That's why we spend mountains of money and resources in radio promotion - along with other labels: to help convince stations that a song is a hit, if their music directors or call-out research aren't convinced/convincing enough. You can dig your trenches of denial all you want, but the bottom line is that "WWFM" is faring VERY well as it rises up the charts, but the research, download sales, listener response, and other elements involved in making a hit simply aren't over-indexing on an 'all-time' level like, say, Ke$ha's "Tik-Tok" or Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind." The first mentions alcohol and boasts a video that screens like a teen girl's mother's worst nightmare, but regardless of that it's a HIT. The second is sung by a black man, and last I checked there was still rampant prejudice against black people, but it too is a hit. Yes, there are people out there who turned away from Adam because he's gay, or because of what happened at the AMAs, but not enough to significantly stall his career - he's not the first openly gay man in rock and roll, you know - just the first American Idol. "WWFM" will be a hit, if it proves itself on multiple levels - and that's the reality. Here's another example: I once worked for the label of a band called Drowning Pool, who were riding a major hit right around the time 9/11 happened, and the song's chorus was "LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR". Along with several other hits of the time, there was concern that some radio stations might pull the track for sensitivity reasons, but once the dust settled and paranoia cooled, that was simply not the case. A hit is a hit and will be a hit, whether it's sung by a gay man, a 50-year0old Scottish woman, or a kangaroo. Trivia: Slayer released an album on 9/11/2001 named 'God Hates Us All'! Prophetic?
