Hmm.. so immediately after the idol finale when nobody, including Clay's mother, brothers and grandparents knew that he was gay, you think he should have just announced it to the world and let them find out in a magazine? Of course he fucking lied, you douchebag!

To compare Adam's situation coming from a family that was liberal and totally unfazed by it to Clay's situation with a conservative southern Christian family and community that would not only not accept him but that would impact the way his family is treated is so fucking insensitive of you. I have no words. Those conservative christians believe that homosexuality is a choice and that the devil is responsible for such evil choices.

Clay was only 23 on Idol and had only told 1 person.

His little brother was in high school and later in the Marines and I'm sure Clay was worried that he would be given a rough time over it, and who needs that worry on top of his safety in Iraq and whether his Mom and grandparents would be shunned at church and within their social circles. Sure it would also probably lose him fans but I can't imagine that was his first priority.

What's this crap about him letting his fans defend him. As if he had any control over them. Look at your own favorites, glitter. Could Kelly have made you treat Clay fairly by simply asking you to be nice to her friend? No. Can Adam get his Cows to calm the fuck down? No. So why would you expect Clay to be superhuman and be able to control his fans?

There were a shitload of lies told, and regardless of whether he is gay or not, the stalker that lied about him in the tabloids is still a liar.
When the gossips said Clay was courting Adam to duet with him it was a lie.
When the tabloids said he was thrown off the Idol set last year it was a lie.
When the stalker impersonates Clay on the internet sites, twitter, manhunt and instant messages etc, those are lies.
When the gossip bitch, Shirley Halperin, wrote that un-named sources say that Clay was dropped by RCA, that was a lie.

There are plenty more lies through the years that have harmed his reputation because assholes like you repeat them to hurt him. Damn right his fans go to bat for him. So do you when there is shit out there about your favorites and they appreciate the support just like Clay does.

BTW, it took no courage for Adam to come out, he had no one to protect and it wasn't news to anyone of his family or friends. He was just waiting for the platform that would give him the most publicity.

Clay is just a nice guy who wanted to sing and to be allowed his privacy when it came to his private life. Certain people assumed/sensed that he was gay from the beginning. I wasn't one of them but that's on me. He was treated badly from day one for being perceived to be gay and not coming out. Gossips bashed him, crazies tried to out him with stories of internet trolling and kinky sex. No one has had so much ridicule and pressure as Clay has endured for years and years. I find it ironic and funny that Adam says he just wants to be a singer and not a poster boy for gays. Clay is now out and proud to be who he is but he still gets bashed for not being faster or something equally stupid and unfair.

So STFU, glitter. You're no expert and you have no right to judge a gay man on his personal journey unless you've walked in his shoes.
