Ashland police Sgt. Joel Icenhour said that Emily Kramer was playing alone when she fell
headfirst into a hole that she'd dug in the snow. Icenhour said the girl's father had been outside
with her earlier and found her unconscious when he returned.
Icenhour said the girl's body had blocked her access to air. She had dug the 12-inch to 15-inch-wide hole with a larger shovel, and a small sand shovel was found inside." What a dumb bitch, who uses a little beach shovel in the snow? Lt. Icehole was on the case huh? |

Cleofuss, as soon as I heard about that little girl on the news, ned's picture is the first thing I thought of. I hate when OT does that to my RL.

We have about 9 inches so far with another 3-5 inches expected before it ends. Winds have begun to really blow the past hour. And, of course, our furnace broke down this evening. Luckily my brother came over and was able to fix it. He had to drive ten miles to Menards in the drifting snow to get a new part. Shoveled once today and will have to do it again tomorrow. I wish I were back in Australia.

Eurytol wrote:I would gladly share the snow blower in a emergency but its the same family year in and year out? I loaned it to them a few weeks ago but I'm tired of it. They can fucking afford a snow blower. That is what bugs me. It's easier to use the neighbors and not have that little extra expense of buying your own blower or gas. Do you loan your lawn mower out to all the neighbors also. I'm not in a poor neighborhood none of the houses are over 9 years old, they are just users. It is the fact that they just won't go out and buy one. |

and what if they bring it back broken?

If they bring it back broken I would have to shovel until it gets fixed. It's been broke before and it took a couple of weeks to get it fixed. Off to work, hope the roads are good.
We get an average of 40 inches of snow every winter so this isn't a surprise snowfall.

ugh. another 11" here so far. They're still predicting another 6-10" before 2pm.
I was hoping my company would close, but the bastards are still open. I'm absolutely not driving in, but if they were closed, I wouldn't even have to log on and work from home. |

Schools are closed again here despite almost no new snow since yesterday and no wind, no blowing, no drifting. Wimps.

Some pretty damn insane shit outside my window this morning. Bmore: It iced some overnight, so it's slick. But right now, it's coming down in buckets, blowing sideways.
The stations are saying it'll let up somewhere between 4 pm and 7 pm. Kill me now. |

It was the largest amount of snow, 14.1 inches, that we have ever received in one storm. It was so strange trying to drive in an almost white-out. I tried to go to the city to spend Christmas with my sister but they ended up closing the interstates down. It took almost 3 hours to go about a mile. So i just turned around at the exit and came back home. Then about 10 or so days ago we had a major ice/snow storm. Got around 8 inches of snow, and about 3/4 inch of freezing rain/ice and sleet. Luckily I didn't lose power from this storm like I did for a week in December 2007. That really sucked big time. We only need about 6 more inches to beat the all time snow record amount ever for one season. It was set back in 1948. This Winter has been the worst since then. We have a slight chance of more on Thursday and Friday. it's beautiful to look at but not so great to drive in. |

susieq wrote: New record here, too. 66 inches and counting. This storm isn't anticipated to end for another 9-10 hours, so 72-75 isn't out of the question. According to USA Today, Buffalo's average annual snowfall is 93 inches. One or two more of these monster storms comes up the jetstream, and we'll be there. |

Snow started here in central CT about an hour ago. We are expecting 8 - 12 inches of snow. Even though it's been a relatively mild winter I'm ready for spring.

They're saying we might get an inch or two out of this. Doesn't seem so bad considering it's February.
