I had been wanting to run a logistic regression with winner vs. not winner as the DV. However, I do not have a dataset. Every now and then I get in one of those moods and start making one. It doesn't take long before I am sick of transcribing all of those damn charts into something that would actually work for meaningful analysis and give up.However, I'm currently reading about a technique for my dissertation called latent profile analysis (I've heard it called a combination of structural equation modeling and multi-level modeling if there are any other stat-geeks in here). Essentially it takes the variables you give it and constructs profiles of individuals that cluster together (e.g. identifying groups that are high on variable A, low on variable B, medium on variable C, and so forth). Then you can use those profiles to make predictions about a variety of outcomes. I'm using it for real research but I think Edgic would be a good application as well. Give it a few profile variables, let it spit out the number of edit types it identifies, and use that to predict win vs. no win. Need to use M+ to do it though (beyond the capabilities of SPSS). Probably way more work than it's worth. However, there are other types of profile analysis that people might be able to work without needing M+.I'd be interested in the findings, whatever you end up doing.

The key for this would be some randomization of the factors, which would be easy if you just have a non-edgic (or non-Survivor fan) involved in the initial creation of the two+ groups of factors.[/geekiness]

Her chances are better than Sash's now! I would put Sash as worst chances and Kelly Purple's as second-worst chances.

Edited to add: Also, if I could just get the Excel spreadsheets that there are pictures of on the first page, compiling the data would be a lot lot lot quicker. Hippochinfat - is this possible??
