I mean we know that Fabio must play a role in getting Naonka out. The editors have been leading up to that for weeks. Even the most casual viewer knows that Fabio hates Naonka. Maybe next week is Fabio's coming out party as he finally gets one up on Naonka and gets her out?I've been keeping a close eye on Naonka's game and every single person she has targeted as gone home. Naonka is actually a good barometer to know who is going home next. I can see Naonka and Chase (having built a solid relationship after the tribe swap) in the finals with one other person. Jud's days are numbered imo....

Maybe Brenda tries to get Chase booted (she had a Insider clip saying she didnt trust him anymore) and Chase manages to turn it around on her using his trusty side-kick Jane. Its really hard to even keep Chase on the contender list unless the 'Chase is stupid' plotline is resolved FAST. With so much emphasis on that story last episode, I think we should see something come of it soon, like one of the nest 2 episodes. I actually saw this episode as eliminating Brenda and making Chase the stand out contender. Jane has a BIG target on her back and will not last long. Jud moves up to second but he is not part of the complex group and defiantely not hidden!!Yes Chase was called stupid several times but why the constant Chase is stupid? Unless, as Edgic states he becomes a 'surprise winner'!Why is Chase the stand out no.1 contender? Jeff's positive SPV for Chase. Right after the reward Jeff clearly states this is first and foremost a social game and asked the guys if anyone would give up their spot. All said no. That was a huge scene in my opinion with a tearful and hingry Purple Kelly getting no sympathy from the guys. I believe all 5 guys who went on the reward are ruled out (including Jud and Sash). Jeff gives a postive SPV that "Chase believed in you". to purple Kelly. So already jury connections there since Purple Kelly is obviously not winning this.

In other words, Chase didn't do himself any favors in the social game - and this was from the combo of JP and editing. Based on the editing - which is what this is all about - and the logic associated with the editing, this was not a P move for him.And all the chatter about Chase = moron doesn't necessarily mean he's a surprise winner. It may simply mean he's a moron.

As I qualified in my first post, if he proves everyone to be very very wrong, he could still win. These are the kinds of statements that we should be questioning with a statistical analysis (assuming we had data on having intelligence questioned). Here we have a proposed theory, and instead of accepting it on its face we decide whether it stands up under analysis. Off the top of my head, I can think of both Sandra and Jenna as two winners who have had their intelligence frequently called into question, by Fairplay and Burton (S7) and Russell (S20) for Sandra and by Rob C. (and Dave? Roger? Deena?) for Jenna. But what are the variables that matter? Is it (1) # of people saying someone is stupid; (2) tone of the people saying someone is stupid; (3) # of episodes in which someone is called stupid.Though, still, I read the Chase scenes completely differently, not as Chase being stupid, but as Chase being (a) of strong character; (b) being insightful enough to realize he should not trust Brenda; and (c) seeing through Marty's lies and accurately reporting to Holly that Marty will actually try to blindside Jane and not NaOnka. Come on - we saw Marty to manipulate Chase and we KNOW Chase saw right through him! The editors didn't have to show us that! We know Brenda's been talking about Chase like a puppet, and now we are being shown that he doubts that he can trust her. They didn't have to show us that, either!

I just don't get Edgic's analysis of Chase this episode AT ALL. It's the exact opposite of what America is supposed to think, and you all just think he was proven to be a dumbass because you think he's a dumbass!

Fellow edgic fans, just popping in to say Hi. I Haven’t been following the thread, but I wish to add a brief observation. After watching the last episode, I had a gut feeling about Jud. The editors made us believe he was as dumb as a box of rocks for many weeks – even in awe of Marti’s chessmaster ploy. However, in the last two eps., he was shown to be the voice of reason over naonka (many viewers were thinking the same thing and it gives us a reason to change our opinion about him – to sort of root for him), and it was highlighted at tribal council. He also was shown in a moment of brilliance when he said sitting back and doimg nothing was a good strategy – once again it would look to the average viewer as a "good move". However, the doubt will always remain (to the viewers) on not believing this seemingly "dumb" player can win. I see "effort" being put on his edit and it tells me one of two things a) he wins and we see his mental progress in the game or b) he loses at the end because he sat in the background too much. Either way I see him in the finals. See, no fancy formula needed although bless you guys for trying. ;-)
Watch him in weeks to come to see if he starts to look even smarter – a bold move would be great and may eliminate b) above and make him a solid choice for the win.
Once again I haven’t followed the discussion, but just had a gut feeling after pondering his edit. If he is this dumb player, why go to great lengths to change that opinion? Benry (I think it was him), was in the tree with him and we heard nothing about his strategy. If I’m wrong – just blame it on rust...
Keep the dream alive,
KQ

I used to be the keeper of the SPV and I never noticed a correlation between "villain" SPV and its accuracy or any sort of 'backward accuracy.' In fact, in many circumstances the bad guys' SPV was more accurate, which emphasized the CPN 'evil genius' edit many N people get. What does count in SPV is reinforced vs. contradicted. It is a very strong editing decision, and it matters regardless of whether the speaker is a "good guy" or villain. In the matter of Chase, was the SPV of the 'villains' ever contradicted by the edit? No. Chase was SPV'd as paranoid and annoying by Na, and he immediately was shown via editing as doing exactly what Na said he'd do - and then, she and Brenda discussed his paranoia. Good grief - that's the rare triple whammy, right out of salesmanship 101: tell 'em what's gonna happen, show what happens, and then remind them of what happened. This was uber-reinforced SPV, and IMO is the new standard for reinforced.
And the SPV from the guys on the reward wasn't as N, but it was: We're keeping an eye on him. He is now a less-than-trusted person by all the men, P, N, or neutral. You saw no guy think well of Chase, either in a group or in SPV.
