I think the editing intent is to show that Rob is thinking about FTC opponents at least as much as disposing of immediate threats.   Yes, when the decision was made to boot Matt, the reason he gave for public onsumption was that Romber-like pairings were dangerous.  However, his confessionals suggested that what weighed on his mind equally, if not more, was Matt playing nice and the possibility of that influencing the jurors at FTC.  ("I mean I get it.  Matt's playing Survivor.  Text-book Survivor.  But he's playing against me.").     We've also been shown clearly that his first wish is to go the finals against girls who 'have done nothing'. Remember, the edit has only marginally differentiated between Andrea and the other two girls as far as camp life is concerned.  So when it came to choosing an alternative boot target to Christina, Phillip's goat appeal just didn't have greater weight than keeping the girls happy and - importantly from Rob's point of view - apparently uninvolved.

So I don't really think there is that much of a gap in the story as far as Andrea's immediate safety was concerned.  I think Rob's assumptions have been fairly clearly mapped out.  What will eventually be made of those assumptions is another matter.

Again, reading between the lines, I agree that this is probably what happened. Probably. Thought and consideration leads us to this probable conclusion. The fact that we are even discussing it as being even slightly unclear is exactly what I am referencing as the issue. Rob chose Phil over Andrea because his alliance hates Phil. Was that the extent of the discussion regarding Andrea? Survivor does not usually make the story events surrounding the winner this subtle, especially in a pivotal moment such as this.

That's why in episode 4 the choice was only between Kristina and Phillip because those were the only 2 first choices for the core group of 4 on Ometepee - while in reality the situation may be more complex, the editing usually gives us a choice of 2 possible boot targets in a given episode.

It's not like I'm sitting here confused as to what is going on at Ometepe. Yeah, as someone digging through the footage looking for the winner, I get what really happened. I know why Kristina was a boot target. I know why Phillip was a boot target. The casuals do too. I have lots of suspicion and speculation about why Andrea was not a boot target. The point is still that the more complex situation containing how Andrea survived this setback was ignored.

Look, I think people are not understanding me here and we're straying from my original point. The point is that this situation is one where Andrea was tied to the direct story during a tribal council episode, yet got absolutely nothing in terms of footage. If you look at all 4 winner INVs aside from this (Tina, Amber, Natalie, Jud), none of them are at the level. Ignoring the winner in each of these episodes had absolutely nothing to do with their own personal story. No one has to think or connect multiple-source information to see how they survived the episode or fit into the plan. Natalie's is the closest, sure, but I don't think anyone should deny that this would be the most personally significant episode "skipped" for a winner in the show's history.

She's a fantastic candidate. This INV would change the way I personally think about winner INVs if she ended up winning. If others disagree, I feel like she should probably be the undisputed pick for these people, as probably she fits almost every official guideline.

Might have something to do with the fact that she had the 3rd lowest visibility out of 15 people, including a short confessional, a question about her hair, a sentence about how she does work, and some other throwaway comment I'm blanking on. How is she NOT getting a 1 unanimously?

I thought my novella on the situation earlier in the thread might have clarified it but once I start talking about objectivity/subjectivity I assume everyone just has their eyes glaze over and they move on to reading other discussions about similar issues. Some of them include Natalie vs. Andrea, the literary Jesus implications of Matt's edit, anal sex, and whether or not Rob's edit is really a winner or really a distraction.
