If not, why do some of the boats go to the added trouble, risk and expense to fish for them? Were those boats not able to get quota allotments from the state to fish for the red ones, or something?

According to the discussion board at Discovery, low quota or no quota for king crab is exactly why they're fishing blue crab. I think I heard that they're worth more per pound too, but are tougher to find. I can see the Ramblin' Rose not having king quota but what happened to the CM's quota? When the ownership changes, do they have to apply for quota? Or fish a year before they get quota?

He had a hand full of ball bearrings he constantly kept rolling around in his hand, all the while completely fixated on finding the crew member that stole a can of strawberries from the supply room. Jake is a pot head. Capt. Ray is a bat shit, krazy, paranoid nut job.

I really think Jake still has drug issues and I believe that he was smoking aboard. That being said...what really kills me is that he puts the boat and an entire crew at risk with his behavior - completely agree with Captain on that one, and they are so spineless that they are willing to risk their own incomes on his idiocy. Guess they have alot less to lose

He said that Josh told him that they weren't there to catch crab, but to make a tv show, and when they had enough footage they were going home. That must have offended him deeply, given how he feels about crab fishing. Should he have said anything about their dad? No - but I think it came from a good place. I've read his other interviews and he's said that he meant that they should honor their father, but if they lived under THE LEGEND PHIL HARRIS rather than Phil Harris, above average fisherman, it was going to mess them up - and he's right. As for Jake - the crew said that Jake wasn't even on the boat, but was put on for 24 hours just to make it look like he was working. Factor that into how pissed Captain got about him smoking drugs aboard the boat, and putting his license at risk as a favor to Phil's kids.

I have such an intense dislike for Jake now - all I can remember is him begging his father for more shares - not more responsibility, but more money. He clearly just wants to ride his share of the boat and forget everything his father built. I guess I shouldn't speak for people I don't know, but after last season this is such a let down. I see why Discovery was having such a hard time getting them to sign this season.
