There were other reasons to include that scene other than showing Rob coming up short. With the Sandra scene it was totally superfluous, but this scene was not only entertaining but necessary for the plot (Rob finding the idol) and Rob's character development

I'll say it again: This is a very unusual season and edgicers might as well enjoy the ride. If the winner is not Rob, then it may well be Phillip, who now surely has one of the most intriguing edits in Survivor history - if not the most intriguing. You've already said a dozen times you aren't playing by Edgic rules. Of course having Phil as a contender when you aren't even pretending to do Edgic isn't "stupid." The only grounds anyone in this topic can criticize your picks on is the idea that you continue to discuss your non-Edgic picks in Edgic. Beyond that, arguments against your picks on an Edgic basis don't really apply because your response can justifiably be "I'm not following Edgic to make this pick."I'm talking more about the people who actually think Edgic points to a Phillip win. Maybe the guidelines need to be posted back on page 1 next season because a lot of people seem unfamiliar with them.

The Wiz: I'm with you. I do NOT see Matt getting this religious an edit in this religious a country and losing. At the -worst- he comes back from R.I. does some major damage and is voted out with his head held high. I agree. His opening prayer scene and the connections shown and voiced by Jeff between Rob and Matt have been pointing to Matt returning. The preview of Matt cracking up on the beach is, of course, a diversion. His faith will not falter.I still see Krista's exit speech as Matt's out at any point it may occur in the story. The acceptance of God's will as being all good. This may be the biggest tip (and it's been there ever since he told us "My faith is everything." in Ep1), that Matt is playing for his God and not necessarily the win.

GIMG: If Rob DID win, of course they would give him all the pomp and circumstance and editing glory in the world...but they would do that if he lost, too. He's going to get special treatment no matter what so I don't have the best read on him. It's just...he's SO, SO present.

But he will also render unto Emperor Rob Caesar what is Rob's Caesar's. And that includes the coin.

Getting his ass handed to him over and over again by Rob on Nicaragua and then giving Rob the million dollars too. That's embarrassing. He seems like a good kid. I hope he can recover from his embarrassment. Don't worry Matt, you're not the first one Rob has made look foolish in the game of Survivor. You're just not in his league when it comes to this game. While you were praying and waiting for something to happen, Rob took his fate into his own hands.

Andrea's edit looks as good or better than the rest of the UTR (OTT) winners through the merge ep.Her immediate stall afterwards goes against the past edits. But NatalieW shows that a winner story can be activated very close to the end.
