I was so thrilled when I heard Cook was going to do "Baba O'Reilly" but didn't like the way it turned out as it was too chopped up. ICE is only 2 minutes long, so he could do the whole thing. Couldn't find a version to embed. (btw - I fucking LOVED Moon. RIP)

It hit 17 on the Billboard US Adult Top 40 chart, and since they've used Billboard charts before I suspect they're defining now by Billboard charts. Could also be "King of Anything" I guess, but that was released almost a year ago. "Love Song" is really old depending on how they're defining the Now theme. I can actually hear her voice on "Uncharted" but its not really a moment song, its fine but "King of Anything" would be better.� The video for the song is cool though, looks like she got all her artist friends to dance and lip synch to the song for it. Duffy hasn't released any well charting singles in a while and she hasn't released any singles in 2011 so I don't see how that fits in with the Now theme. They just did 21st Century so having Now encompass more than a year or more than the current charts just makes it redundant. I actually want to see the contestants tackle genuinely current songs and see what they do with it.

Haley - Somebody to Love Scotty - 500 Miles by Bobby Bare although what would be epic is the country version of San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair) Scotty McCreery sings Scott McKenzie. Jacob - Turn Back the Hands of Time by Vernon Garrett - This song deserves to be as iconic as the rest of the soul of that era, but it's so underplayed! Why? James - My Generation by The Who - I think he'd bring the new generation love for this song. Music of 2011? 2010? Now? Haley - Cold War by Janelle Monae - I like it because it's left field, I think a big ballsy singer could do interesting things with this song. Lauren - Friday by Rebecca Black - I can dream can't I? Oh but hmm... ok more realistically Teardrops On My Guitar which is so beautiful. James - Wake Up by Arcade Fire - Arguably the greatest song of the last 5 years I've come to realize. When the crowd starting singing with AF at Coachella I admit I welled up. We need a teary moment this season. Jacob - Born This Way - Work it out! Scotty - Courtesy of the Red White and Blue - Bin Laden's dead, fuck it, lets go there.

"Jump Into the Fire" is an awesome rock song, and James would be good on it, but maybe it's Jacob doing "Coconut" which would be fittin' since it's already been observed that he's like the 7Up Un-cola guy, Geoffrey Holder. eta: Well shit, 20 lashes with a wet noodle from Marathon for me, Nilsson Schmilsson came out in '71.
