In the 'Shitty Apartment' entry, I got a huge laugh at the Boston Rob/Jeff Probst courtship picture after the picture captioned with "But you know, I want to be on your backside, and I would like you to be on mine.  The unexpected timing of it got me.  And the Probst picture being a unique combination of puppy dog eyes with a shit-eating grin is funny.

I actually hesitated putting that joke in because it was too easy, but like you said, the way I did it kind of catches you off guard.  In general the rule is, if something makes me laugh, I figure it will make other people laugh.  The combination of the backside quote and Probst's little grin was just too good to pass up.

I have never seen her address this in an interview, and I have never spoken to Courtney personally, so I have no idea.  However I do assume there was a lot more to that scene than what we saw on TV.   There is no way it came out exactly like the editors presented it to us.

My hunch is that Shane issued joking death threats to people in EI all the time, and it didn't really phase people anymore when he said stuff like that.  So Courtney just fixated on the personal, insulting part of that comment, since the death threat was the kind of thing that Shane said all the time.  I have no way to prove it but that is just a guess.

The ending to the 'Coach climbs a tree' entry drew a huge laugh from me.  Getting Survivor clarification and stories, like from Sandra, ups the quality level of an entry.  Adding a reporter aspect to an entry is appealing to me since the editing in Survivor leaves out lots of good stuff.

Is bringing timing, buildup, and callback comedy to picture-caption-story-comedy avant-garde or old hat?  Is there anyone else in the world doing picture caption story comedy?  (Not just single picture caption comedy).  Story boarding a movie comedy doesn't count since that's not the final product.

I would be honored if you could somehow place my avatar in a funny115 entry.  Perhaps as a inside joke about Jim Early.  The picture, just by itself, draws a laugh from many.  The picture comes up as one of the first entries if you type 'fat slob' into Google images.  The entire image shows him typing at a keyboard.

Avant garde vs old hat?  Hmm.   You make a good point that I kind of write these entries like a movie storyboard.  But at the same time I'm not sure how there would be any other way to write them.  So I wouldn't call that avant garde or old hat at all.  To me, that is just me trying to keep the spirit of the scene while adding commentary to it.  The choice is to either use pictures with captions, or a giant wall of text, and I know how well giant walls of text go over on the internet.   :)

There have been plenty of inside Jim Early jokes on the countdown so far.  We'll see what I can do about the avatar...

What's the back story behind the picture caption "The closest Erik has ever come to having sex.  As a caption to the picture, it was funny.  Just wondering why Mario saved it for Erik over the others in the challenge.

Erik was still a virgin when that scene was being filmed.   I'm sure he was just excited to have something besides Jesus between his legs.
