It was great to see some fresh faces, but even though not all of them were winners, I hope a lot of them get called back, because I would like to see what some of them can do. The definite keeper is the guy who did the boys group routine and Clarice/Jess contemporary piece. He allowed all the guys to have their own moment, and it was nicely done when they were together, and I really wish we could see it danced again and have Chris do it right this time, since that really stopped from stopping the show (sorry Chris; you've killed your past two jazz routines but you blew it this time with the hoodie). His routine with Jess/Clarice was nicely done as well, with lots of interesting movement, and he choreographed to their strengths by giving them no complicated lifts (I love Stacey Tookey, but she did no favors when she gave Jess all those lifts to do, and that was not clever choreography on her part). Travis as a judge was great as well; lots of precise constructive criticism (nothing vague like "make it earthier next time, please"), and I would definitely like him back. I did cringe a bit when he was judging Ashley and Chris and he said that "all the other couples have been killing it tonight...", since while I don't expect the judges to get up and start ranting that the hat doesn't exist and production really screwed these two dancers over, but I also don't want the judges to add insult to injury by using that disadvantage against them in the critiques. The other plus tonight was Mary; normally she only gets really technical in the ballroom routines, and she did tonight with the waltz and salsa, but she also got very specific and constructive with the other routines. Yeah, she raved too much about a lot of meh routines, but at least she had specific compliments, and she didn't become unfairly mean to any of the couples (except maybe Sasha/Alexander, but they deserved it).

How about you just tell the dancers what it's about, and if the rest of us can't guess then one of you fucked up.
