That's part of the problem.  The entire thing was fake from the costume not being ready until right before she walks on stage and then being at least a size too big  (WTF?) to the whole Chloe situation.

It's not just dance that's like that. Kids do that in sports all the time. And you could substitute gymnastics or cheerleading or riding or travel soccer for dance and have the exact same issues. There are nutso parents in every activity.

Have you noticed that Abby just has one shirt? She wears this black shirt with sequins in every episode.

In real life you get your routine in September and the earliest you perform it is November with most not starting till April/May. You rehearse each number once a week and most kids are in no less than three dances and as many as twelve or fifteen not counting solos and duets/trios.

There are people that copy dance routines, it's shitty and illegal. I can't figure out how any of these routines are placing because they don't look good and don't have the originality that you need for a winning number. I don't know if they're just going to to competitions that are basically for recreational dancers or what. I did hear at one competition one of the groups placed despite breaking one of the specific rules for the category (including more tumbling than was allowed) which makes me think that the competition owners are scoring these kids according to what the producers want which sucks for everyone else.

This is what a top national winning routine looks like in the Junior division that they're all competing in. Abby's routines are nothing compared to the originality of that choreography (and the technique of the dancers).

The reason that Maddie wins everything and Paige doesn't is because of two things. The first is that Maddie is given better choreography and judges care about the choreography as much as the rest of it and the second is that Maddie is competing in the mini division against eight year olds which generally isn't very difficult because half of the kids she's competing against are six and seven and don't have much experience (and aren't training insane hours) while at most competitions Paige (and Nia) are competing in the Junior division against ten and eleven year olds who have far more experience and age on her. Even the best dancers rarely win when they're in the bottom of their age group.
