For my money, Homefront is still one of the best television shows of all time. Kyle Chandler's Emmy win last night got me very nostalgic for the show, and to my surprise (and horror) it debuted 20 years ago this week (9/24/91).
For the 20th Anniversary I intend to watch my painstakingly created bootleg-dvd set.
For a show that barely survived 2 years, and that hardly anyone remembers, it has played a huge part in my tv geek life.
I was a member of the original mailgroup that would mail vhs tapes across the country in an attempt to collect the complete series, as well as participating in the (shockingly) successful fan pertition campaign that compelled tvland to re-air the entire series about a decade ago.
The cast was top notch, the writing was superb, and the production values of America's past were unparallelled on television until Mad Men came along.
It's a pity this has never had any sort of official dvd release, but if you get a chance to watch the series, it's well worth the effort.
Anyone else remember this show?
