Loved it. Didn't take much convincing, and yes, we didn't delve too deeply into any story, but when you're covering six people what they did was fine. I find it interesting that the show only has six series regulars: The four stewardesses and the pilot/copilot. Interesting in a good way.

I liked it, but they have to decide if they're making an airline drama or a spy thriller. Too much espionage in the pilot.

And the sisters look so much alike that I kept getting them confused (which one was on the cover of LIFE again?).

Loved the shot of the helicopter taking off from the Pan Am (now MetLife) building. Wow, that took me back.

If they tighten up the storylines in the coming episodes, it should be a fun show.

This show wasn't on my radar at all, and only watched it because my bf DVR'ed it, but I ended up liking it a lot. Thought it was pretty cool that they worked in the spy/espionage stuff into the story of the stewardesses, definitely wasn't expecting that.

I'll have to check this out again come next Sunday.

I really liked it. I hadn't heard of it, but I was plopped down for DH and this came on afterwards and held my attention. I agree that the art direction was great. I also thought that some of the characters looked the same at first - probably because they were all wearing the same uniform. I'll keep watching I'm sure.

As an airline veteran and aviation geek I had to watch. Technically, they got the 707 pretty good, though its a lot more roomy looking than it should be. They got the engines right. The DC 7C looked good, wonder where they found one to film.?

Story..eh...standard TV crap. Love Christina Ricci, poor girl needs to eat though...

I get to fly in a 707 next month, its an airborne refueling plane from the National Guard, gonna fuel F22's and F16's, can't wait, never flew in one, been in them, but never flown.

Looks like they have re-released Coffee, Tea, or Me? I remember reading it ages ago, it was a good read, now I kind of want to get another copy since it's from that same era. I mostly remember the weigh-ins and inspections of uniforms, hair, nails and all of that.

I noticed the hair length change as well. I figured she probably had a wig that she put on for the job so her hair was always perfect. A girl that breaks the no girdle rule probably has her own idea about how she wants her hair away from the job. I have a feeling she is going to be a little bit feisty.

I love the Bridget/captain love story.....I totally thought he was going to find her dead body at the hotel though, especially when what's his face said "Bridget had" as if she was taken from else or something

Kate is my favorite and I can't help but think that she looks like Porsche from BB13

I loved it. This show did everything correctly that The Fucking Playboy Club didn't: this show captured the zeitgeist of the 60's perfectly AND had compelling characters.

Christina Ricci felt so tacked onto this though. You could tell she was a latecomer to the party, but I adore her and hope that they find a good story for her that doesn't include her being a proto-hipster.

Ricci wasn't a latecomer to the series. She was always a fixture. I truly hope they work her in more, because it certainly feels like she's an afterthought. She's a little too Midge Daniels, Don Draper's girlfriend on season 1 of Mad Men, but I hope they flesh her out a bit. I have feeling she's going to be stuck love triangle with the pilot and his spy girlfriend.

I'm "on board" as they say. This has potential. It's everything The Playboy Club attempted and failed miserably to be. I can't believe I've liked 6 new shows this year. I'm hoping they don't get cancelled to soon.

loved it - very sexy show. i found the story lines got in the way of all the sexy glamor tho - i guess i'll get used to the look of the show and be able to concentrate on the story lines better then.

i thought the rule was they HAD to wear girdles - or is it not allowed to wear them?

But re: Ricci's hair. Since it was so obviously long and shaggy in the Village, I was looking forward to a cool 60s scene where she does some fabulous updo in the cab with a teasing comb and big old can of aerosol hairspray. Missed opportunity.

Encouraging ratings for Pan Am's premiere. It kept almost the entirety of the Desperate Housewives lead in and even improved a bit

I'm on the fence about this show. I do think they overhyped Ricci, but only because she has a big name and that that would draw in viewers. I also liked the idea that the two sisters looked alike, although I could tell the difference. When casting looks for family members, they usually focus on key physical traits to make viewers believe the actors can pass for fictional characters (eg same hair colour, same eye colour, similar height). They really did a good job of finding actresses that could possibly pass as real life sisters as well. I didn't pay attention to the Ricci's hair length.

I'm a little curious about accents, though. Colette is French (Parisienne accent) and Bridgette is British, but they both work for Pan Am, which is an American airline. Does that mean the airline at the time hired people from abroad, because they knew more than one language, or that these characters became American citizens, and being from other countries helped them get jobs at Pan Am?

Very impressed by the Nielsons that this picked up, especially building on the DH lead-in. I thought it was fine; I'll continue watching unless it gets too proceduralized with the new flights and passengers. I think I've just been spoiled by cable the past few months, but overall, I enjoyed it. It had far better 60's integration than The Playboy Club, and also more investment in the characters.

Pan Am didn't hire exclusively Americans. On the ABC website there is a video interview with several PanAm stewardesses from the 60's. Some had accents and obviously weren't American.
