Maybe he needs to go to the Jimmy Johnson coaching school of "we're a united team, now let's go kick ass" and leave religion to those who actually have respect for it.

Especially if they influence it in their game play. The people choose how much they want to influence it in their game play or camp life and the editers use it to follow it through the story, and it gets audience members related to the people on the show. Outside of Christianity/Protestant faith, Phillip mentioned his religious/spiritual beliefs, and many others have expressed their beliefs in some way - Ethan from Africa, Courtney somewhat did in Panama, especially with her jury speech, and Ibrehem from Palau. Religion isn't the only belief/characteristic that has been displayed. Many gay survivors are open to their sexuality more so than others. Sugar's dad was her personal story as to what influenced her in the game. Lill Boy Scout job, in which she preached the Boy Scout honor and sent her whole tribe/allies to the jury, and survivors making personal friendships/showmance in the game has influenced the story line and game play (Ian/Tom, Rob/Amber, Rich/Rudy, Ozzy/Amanda) so it isn't like Religion is the only "personal side" that is significant to a specific person.

Remove this ad I couldn't even finish watching the show, I was so sick of the over the top praying. I actually liked Coach for the first time the first couple of episodes this season and I have despised him in the past. Now I'm back to totally despising him, from his smug little winks after tribal council to his ridiculous zen praying in the water. What a tool. I probably missed some good stuff in the episode but this crap is really turning me off of Survivor altogether.

Brandon was the one who prayed about finding the idol. Granted, Coach didn't say anything about no need to waste God's time because I already have it.
