Then that episode Sophie an average woman gets a HIGHLY manipulated confessional saying she is a strong woman. The first like 5 episodes pointed to a female winner. She fits, she's on Upolu, she got seperated from the religious crap. She wins Cupcake!

Just because he was amazingly skillful and level tonight (hats off to him for the Cochran scene, which revealed a whole other level of Coach play, even though I don't like him), doesn't mean previous ratings have to be revisited. I agree, though, that he maintained CP from last episode, and lost the overt N-ness and OTT-ness this time. As Darth Vader would say "Impressive...!" Unfortunately, it's still the dark side of the force.

Remember when Jim would get focus every episode, and now he's lucky to get 2 or 3 lines and a confessional? Eliminated: Cochran , Edna, Brandon, Keith, Whitney, Ozzy Still in contention but uh: Jim? Sophie, Albert Up There: Dawn, Coach I hope that's it.

Sounds more like your wishful thinking than anything based in fact. Also, you seem to be arguing that the main (only?) piece of evidence for her win is a confessional that basically implies that she's ugly. Her edit doesn't fit. I already explained why. For example, a boring, predictable season like last year was awesome because Rob won. So it doesn't matter if this season is way more unpredictable than last season. Coach didn't win and Jeff didn't like whoever did win. Therefore, Jeff isn't excited for this season.

It's a wrong rating, and it was wrong at the time, too. This isn't me retroactively deciding anything. It's me pointing out that people are disqualifying Coach for wrong reasons. Just because you personally think Coach's prayer was stupid doesn't mean the edit was on your side. Because it wasn't.

She is a very smart, very funny, very opinionated woman, and they have been letting her speak her mind on topics without a lot of producer magic. She's gotten a ton of screen time, a lot of SPV, and I think enough personalized moments (speaking Russian with Coach, calling out Brandon for being a sexist douche, etc) to put her on track to be the winner. I also think she had a great episode tonight in terms of winner chances. She got the other Upolu confession, and a TCQ with a chance to slam the Savaii Mean Girls.

You people are missing the forest for the trees. for me... HOW it was shown is as important as what was shown... Coach grabbing Edna a throwing her down and screaming "on your knees". Sophie's SPV telling us the prayer scene for the idol was not so good for Coach... Whether in real life Coach prayed to find the idol after he already had it is not the point, the edit tells us that Coach lied in a prayer and it made our Narrator (aka the one we are supposed to listen too and believe cause she's right) on upolu feel "ikky"... as we are also supposed to. Coach's incessant prayer for "things" instead of for character... a positive Christian portrayal doesn't express "things" as the goal, but behaviour & character (Matt, Mike from S22, Ibe in S10... for winner's who were very religious it got toned down but when it was mentioned it was portrayed positively...Ethan in S3, Vee in S4, Danni in S11, NatW in S19... Todd is mormon, it was mentioned, but not focused on). I think Dawn's religion has been handled better... we know she is religious, but it is not been rubbed in our noses. As an aside, i live in a very religious town. We have about 4000 people and there are around 20 churches... yup, a church for every 200 people. Anyways, i have asked some of my more churchy friends who i know watch survivor, as i am always curious about how they interpret the religious edits... and yeah, every one of them was appalled by Coach's behaviour. shrug take it as you will. As another aside... I think i find some of the overt religious praying a little extreme because the reality is not everyone is that devoutly Christian... i mean, what if Edna is a Buddhist? Or maybe someone is Muslim, or Jewish? Or Wiccan? All of these are valid spiritual beliefs... forcing your beliefs on someone is not very Christian at all.

If Cochran was really such a Survivor fan, he would know that Coach would never bring Cochran farther than 7th place since he made a promise to stick with Upolu. EPIC FAIL.

Dude, I'm an atheist and I can see that what is going on in this thread is anti-religious myopia. Look at the supposed "OTTN" episode with the benefit of this episode... an episode where Dawn/Cochran SPV contrasted the "mean" and "ostracizing" Savaii with Upolu, a tribe that "stands for something." During this SPV, Upolu WAS SHOWN PRAYING!!! DAWN/COCHRAN SAID: PRAYING TRIBE=POSITIVE!!!
