This way you can burn gas to go to the post office everytime one of your little $4.5 trinket gets sold, just so you can stand in line for an hour, pay out the ass for parcel shipping, pad the insurance by $20 just so you can get negative feedback. That's way worth it.

I would bet that for years your cousin had to hear about how unfair her grandmother was, how she favored your Mom over hers, how it wasn't right your Mom didn't keep the stuff in the family, blah blah blah. So now she's determined to avenge the slight and make you miserable. I disagree with those who want to to just give her what she wants. First of all, that kind of behavior should never be rewarded. Secondly, you'll never make her happy so why bother? Have a tag sale and get rid of it.

Question: Did Grandma have all of your pictures plastered everywhere whilst your cousin had a teeny wallet photo behind the sugar cannister in the kitche/ yellowed, frayed 3x5 on the fridge? If so I can see where the "apeshit" behavior might be stemming from.

My grandmother loved her male children/grandchildren the best (but that's another story). Also, most of the stuff that my mom got was stuff that no one expressed any interest in. She had a house full of junk that the family was trying to deal with. My cousin had first crack at everything in the house because she lived closer and had a closer relationship with my grandmother than I did. Her behavior is coming out of left field and may be related to the fact that my mom was killed in a car accident 2 months ago (no warning, no chance to say good-bye).

Remove this ad While I don't think you did anything wrong there are people who would feel like your cousin. Talk to her once, explain to her that you feel that it was okay to do what you did (it was), but then listen to her side. You are right, but she isn't unreasonably upset. My brother's ex-wife has most of the personal belongings from the houses I grew up in as a kid. My brother was the one who emptied out our last house when my dad died, and he kept almost all of the stuff for his new home (99% of which had little value). I feel he should have offered to send me one or two items, but in no way was he obligated to, and I have let the matter alone. Did my brotehr do anything wrong? No, not really. Was I a little upset? A little.
