It is obviously less invasive, and it is usually less traumatic to the mother's body to deliver the fetus naturally. Years ago I knew a couple who miscarried a second trimester baby and she waited over 2 months for it to deliver. Unfortunately she nearly lost her marbles during that wait, it was the worst torture emotionally for her to be carrying around this dead thing in her body and not be able to have closure for that long. They BEGGED her Dr to perform the D&C in the end, but 2 days before it was scheduled to be done, she managed to deliver it.
