I remember that there was a fear that Brady wouldn't be allowed to appear in Vanuatu by the FBI because of his job, but he showed. Plus, it looked like Sekou was missing in Cook Islands until they pulled back and we realized he was going to sing with the Survivor band.

Ever since the first season they are contractually obligated to come to the reunion too. Now it is part of their contract. The first season is interesting because Stacey tried to form a union behind the scenes where the castaways would only show up if CBS paid them extra. It was actually a pretty good plan too, CBS made buckets on that first season and Stacey thought the players should get a cut of the action since they were being asked to do an extra episode that hadn't been in their contract. However one of the castaways (reportedly Hatch) squealed to CBS and soon everyone had to sign a contract saying they would appear at the reunion or they wouldn't get paid. Ever since then it has been a requirement if you want to be on the show. Other than of course the Brady situation, which was unique because it involved the government.
