During our conversation, at one point he sort of lowered his voice and asked me if South Pacific was considered a bottom five season. He was very concerned that he was going to be a part of a season that everyone hated. I have never heard another Survivor alumnus mention or even care about something like that. But he was very curious to hear what I thought about the season and what the internet was saying about it. Again, I don't see how Sucksters can so consistently come down on the guy. He is exactly like us!And Papa Bear was awesome. I arrived at the hotel at like 9:00 in the morning, and the first person I see walking around is Papa Bear. And of course he walks right over to me and introduces himself. Um yeah I know who you are. I came here to meet the Survivors. Usually you have to walk up to people and introduce yourself if you want to talk to them. But not Papa Bear. He comes over to you and just starts talking to you. He clearly -loved- all the fan interaction. He is a really nice guy.

Hell I have a hard enough time ranking Guatemala and I wasn't even on it. I just knew somebody (Rafe) who was. I didn't ask him about religion but considering he is smart and logical and scientific, I imagine he thought it was as big a crock of shit as everyone else thought it was.

But that isn't how he sees it. The way he sees it is he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't. And he wanted to take his chances with the people who were promising him F3 deals over the people who weren't offering him anything.

Just sit there in the same position and ride his defeat all the way to the final five? If he does that he gets shit on by the internet fans because he "didn't make any moves." To keep up the Penner analogy, either way he was a complete bastard. Cochran's problem was the same problem that 99.99999% of other internet "Survivor experts" would face if they went on the show. Game theory and jury rhetoric and knowledge of Survivor history mean nothing if you can't fish, can't build a shelter, have no social skills, and aren't good in the challenges. Survivor on paper is nothing like actually dealing with people in real life. He has said it himself, he got out to the island and about 30 minutes in had already figured out this is way different than it looks on paper and that he was completely over his head. And then of course the edit and the editors made fun of him, which fit right in line with why they don't cast superfans or why they don't want 20 time applicant/charity casting cases in the first place. These aren't the people who will be good at Survivor.Cochran's problem is the same one that we would all face if we went on the show. He should have done less reading about Survivor and more going out and shmoozing with people to actually prepare for Survivor.

In each case, she always knew one of the finalists (Clay, Twila) to be sneaky and deceptive, which she's fine with, and that finalist blows off her question after some confrontational banter. But she's incredibly bitter at the other finalist for voting her out at the final four without a heads up. Then, she essentially demands an apology of him (explicitly in Eliza's case), and her demeanor changes completely once she gets it (and she goes on to vote for that person). The really amusing part though is that their body language, expressions and posture (not to mention haircut..) are identical. I present my evidence:(you can watch Helen's and Eliza's jury speeches on youtube if you want a side-by-side comparison). Who knows, maybe this has been mentioned before. I just thought it was funny.
