When you attempt to justify your actions like he did, it comes across as not admitting what you did, It's like saying "I apologize for it seeming like I was not playing with honor and integrity, but I really tried and did up until such and such happened which then justified my actions despite the promises I made and words I said". He tried to justify his actions while retaining the mantle of playing with honor and integrity. That's a bit different than saying "you're right... I did not play with the honor and integrity I talked about. I came to win and unfortunately you often have to use whatever you can to manipulate people around you to accomplish your plan. Everyone playing tried in some way to manipulate others in some way". That would have been a much better way to do it. You drop the BS of playing with honor and integrity. You admit your lies and take full responsibility for them. You don't justify your actions by throwing the responsibility back onto the ones who were manipulated, and you make the jurors reflect on their own game where a bit of introspection might reveal to them that they did some of the same things in some fashion.

Ozzy tried to use that but we know the real deal - he felt Coach was quite the hippocryte with the warrior against warrior thing and didn't vote for him. It's the same stupid excuse Lyida tried to pawn off when she didn't vote for Stephanie. Bull fu*king shit!!

Posts: 54 (12/20/11 05:01 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I have been watching the old seasons ya'll recommended to me.. it's alot more exciting to see who leaves FOR GOOD once they are voted out, plus players with more airtime often won the game. One thing I noticed about Coach was that at the FTC..he knew he was brought to the end because all of his double-deals with others players aka goat. So in the end, Sophie was their Shepard.

If we replace Sophie with Brandon, Brandon wins. If we replace her with Rick, Rick wins. If we replace her with Ozzy, Ozzy wins. That's the truth. The only way that Coach could have possibly won was if he was with Albert and Cochran at the finals. I think that even Edna would have a good shot beating him. Albert had no chance no matter what.

They've been watching the game for 38 days, why would what happens on day 39 be so important? I figure if I was on the jury I would already have my mind made up by the time FTC happens. Not always but for most seasons. I also feel different jury members want to hear different things, so if I was Coach I would give "wish washy" non answers and let my game speak for itself. I am done analyzing and trying to understand this jury vote. The only people that could be bitter at Coach were Edna, Rick, Brandon and Cochrane and three of them voted for him and Brandon has since said he regrets the vote (not in those words exactly but it is very clear that he does). Ozzy voted for Sophie because he didn't want another returning player to win but as far as Jim (especially Jim, I thought he would respect an aggressive double dealing game), Keith, Whitney and Dawn are concerned I will never understand their votes. I'm done. None of Sophies defenders has convinced me that she played a better game than Coach or Albert and I have to accept that this is one I just don't understand.

It's a feat in itself, yet Probst always says at FTC that the most important factor to getting to the finals is the ability to convince the jury to vote for you to get a million dollars, and he failed at that. He's delusional to think that he has anyone to blame other than himself.

There wasn't one thing that she did that raised the entertainment value of this season. Coach, on the other hand, was interesting to watch and helped create some interest. I think Coach should have refrained from apologizing to the jury at the inquisition. He should have stuck to his guns and said, "I did the best I could, sorry if your feelings were hurt, but I had to play the game too."

Whether or not you found Sophie entertaining has everything to do with editing. She wasn't there for camera time, she was there to win. Her game was muted, low key, thoroughly unsexy and nearly flawless. It's the nature of Survivor that that's an extremely effective playing style. Sorry she didn't find a dozen idols, switch alliances every episode and talk about Jesus and her own awesomeness all the time, but that's not how the game is won.

The theory that Coach lost because the people he voted out were bitter is toast: Cochran, Rick, Edna all voted for Coach, and Brandon said he regretted not voting for Coach in his Rob C interview, and admitted that he was bitter. Also, to the poster who said that it wasn't Coach who flipped Cochran, you're delusional. We literally saw Cochran being flipped by Coach who told him exactly what he wanted to hear. And, Cochran himself who is in a better position than anyone to know who played the best game voted for Coach. It is extremely clear that Coach lost because the Savaii co-ordinated their votes in Ponderosa.

Juxtaposed with his integrity and honor facade he just crumbled like a cheap suit. It was a low point. Had he been able to make a cogent [i did my best; with the 5 i was true] argument he might have won. But his phoniness was put in the spotlight and he was exposed; plus he groveled and just pled guilty.
