People there feed into the three ring circus and they genuinely *care*. Watching the X Factor UK live each year is an experience you won't get anywhere else. The UK's shows are each once a year and there's only really a handful of reality shows they have there so it's always a BIG deal. Soo totally agree. Watching X Factor UK is like watching a spectacle on crack. It's like no other show. The buzz, the celeb hype, the contestants are always infinitely better than US contestants. Everything about X Factor UK is a smash. I love watching it every year. The buzz is like no other. As for the Voice, it could have done well in the ratings but it did nothing in terms of launching the next "Voice". Both Javiers and Dia's albums tanked on the charts barely cracking the top 200 albums. They barely sold 10k each which is extremely low for a show that drew in 12 million. I just don't think the Voice show can be a success when the contestants are barely pulling in 10k in a first week out. I think I'm probably going to skip the Voice next season. I'm oversaturated with watching X Factor UK/US and Idol. The Voice isn't really about "the voice", it's about Christina Aguilera, The guy from Maroon 5 and Cee Lo mugging for the camera. Everything about that show is cheesy and not in a good way.The brittish version of X Factor is pure spectacle and I still think its format is perfect as an Idol replacement. The biggest reason the US version sucks so hard is because it's trying to distance itself too much from idol in terms of genres. Everyone is too urban. The US version did several things wrong:-The lowered age limit became too much of a gimmick in that all these kids that are incapable of handling the pressures of such a show pretty much took over.-Paula Abdul was cast as a judge. She did not understand how the show worked. This showed in that while her groups were the most technically polished of everyone, they were never able to market themselves properly, which the format encouraged. Think of how Little Mix won in the UK this year, they had backstory after backstory pushing them through. From being a frankengroup to breaking the girl group curse to "omg I'm fat" issues. Not to mention the bullying scandal. Paula only paid attention to performance side as opposed to the marketing side. Another issue with Paula is that her presence beside Simon basically made it impossible for the show to separate itself from Idol. It just gave off the impression that it is and always will be an Idol clone.-Nicole, no explanation needed.-The editing is terrible, I dunno if it's because they have to cut so much time off from the commercials or what but seeing how smooth and slick the editing in the UK version is, is it's really jarring to see the US version and how shitty the editing is.

I feel like I'm watching a Hollywood produced game show when I watch them but for some reason Idol comes across as more genuine. Though I'd never type that but in contrast, it is. Nigel's little power plays pale in comparison to the over the top scripting and bullshit drama X-Factor manufactures. The Voice started out good but the battle rounds were probably the most ignorant and boring things I've ever seen on a talent show. Gimmicks don't work, some shred of real vocal talent does. I had high hopes at the beginning of the year with the two shows coming out but they just left me flat.
