How much do you tip movers?

Don't be tempted Remove this ad I am an office manager for a residential/commercial moving company. Our clients pay between $105-$125/hr for the moving service of 3 men, plus 5-7% fuel surcharge and tax. The movers generally get paid between $17-$20/hr, and are typically tipped between $20-$50 each at the end of a move. They don't always get tips. The biggest tippers are the ones whose company is paying for the move. The biggest tip I've ever seen is $200 each on a move done just before Christmas.

They showed up with one little flat wrench that was good for nothing. I let them borrow one of my socket wrenches to do the job. When they got my stuff to my new location they couldn't find my socket wrench set and left my beds all taken apart. They claimed they left my tools at my old house, but when I went back there no wrenches were found. So not only did these assholes make me have to do part of the job I was paying them to do, but they stole my tools. Needless to say I tipped them nothing.

I tipped the guy that just came to pack $20 and the other two guys I gave $25 for lunch and then $40 each at the end of the day. They seemed very happy. I also called their boss and told them what a good job they did and gave them 5 stars on Yelp. Most stress free move ever.
