The blooper that bugs me every time I see it is when Laura Dern turns the power back on. She leaves the shed, closes the fence and leans against it. The fence has one of those "Warning High Voltage" signs on it. Shouldn't that fence have been electrified too? I still remember being in the theater when the T Rex looks into the jeep, when the light hits and the pupil changes.

I remember watching the film on some cable channel and seeing the early trailer for the sequel and being so fucking excited at the prospect of another JP movie. Of course, neither 2 nor 3 were anywhere near as good as the first, but they were enough to keep my interest in the series. And then when I read the two books (again, with a far inferior sequel), I just had to pick up everything Crichton had written up to that date, because I was so damn impressed. I still love Crichton, Jurassic Park is still an amazing movie, and I still wish Hammond had been killed off like he was in the book (his character was a million more times interesting in the novel, and that's with Crichton's reputation for poor character development).

I thought those were one of the regular fences and the sign was warning about the power box thingie inside? The one thing that kinda bugs me is when I read that the type of amber used to preserve the DNA didn't actually exist when the dinosaurs did and even if it did there was a better chance that the mosquito had digested the blood before it was trapped in the amber. But I'd love to read the draft where the entire book took place from a little girl's point of view.

After a few weeks it went to the dinner theater, which had $1 admission on Tuesday nights. The family went every Tuesday night for eleven weeks. I memorized the movie, read the book, bought the soundtrack, the video games...didn't buy the toys because I already had dinosaurs and Lego jeeps from when I was younger. Eventually we were loudly talking amongst ourselves during the movie, discussing plot oversights. We spent a good deal of time wrapping our heads around the T-rex / cliff thing. It's possible the goat, and the point the T-rex broke through the fence, were at the edge of the cliff, because the front car did get pushed around a bit and could have been up to thirty feet away when it went over. However there are plenty of shots of them hanging over the edge and you don't see any cliff. One wonders how such an oversight got through all the levels of production on the movie. Then again, when you mention it to most people, they never realized it before. Also... when the Raptor's head rises into the ceiling tile and the girl is hanging on for dear life until they pull her up right before the Raptor bites her. The Raptor must have been standing on a desk or table for it to be able to reach the ceiling while standing. But there was no desk or table or anything when they showed the overhead camera angle. Another major oversight.
