NEW ORLEANS — Alabama split the games and swept the titles.

The Crimson Tide was voted No. 1 in the final AP poll for the eighth time, tying Notre Dame for the most of any team in college football, after winning a rematch with LSU in the BCS championship on Monday night.

Alabama's 21-0 victory easily offset the Tigers' 9-6 win on Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and gave it the top spot in the AP ranking to go along with the No. 1 ranking in the USA Today coaches' poll.

The Tide received 55 first-place votes and No. 2 LSU got one. Big 12 champion Oklahoma State (12-1) was No. 3 and received four first-place votes.

And TCU last year, and USC/Texas in 2008 and about 8 different teams in 2007.

Personally I blame USC for the last 6 years. Their loss to UCLA in 2006 opened the door to Florida and thus the 'SEC speed' and SEC superiority myths were born. If USC goes to the BCSCG that year, win or lose (and they would've won) they would've also went in 2007 because the voters would've given the benefit of the doubt to a team with 3 straight BCSCG appearances. If USC win in 2006 or 2007 they also goes to the 2008 BCSCG.

I boycotted this game and ESPNmasturbation 100% and rooted for a 9-6 Alabama win just for BCS chaos. Only inkling I had of game was accidently turning on the car radio and getting the halftime score. I quickly switched off.

Well the other aspect of 2006 that was bullshit was that the final game of the regular season you had Ohio State and Michigan play in a thrilling, entertaining matchup of undefeated 1 vs. 2 (not the FG-fest turd that was Alabama-LSU this year) and though there was a tiny portion of folks who clamored for a rematch in the title game between those two conference foes, people had the decency to not subject the country to an all Big Ten BCS title game and lo and behold... it turned out the Big Ten had been overrated all year and Florida came in and trounced Ohio State just like Oklahoma State could have done to LSU had they gotten a chance in the title game and we could have seen how good the SEC really was.

Alabama didn't play fucking anyone outside of the SEC this year except a shitty-as-fuck Penn State team with no offense and it's 100 percent bullshit that they didn't have to play anyone else outside of the SEC, when they couldn't even win their fucking division, to go on to win the NATIONAL title.

Overnight ratings for Alabama’s 21-point shutout of LSU in the National Championship Game were the lowest in the history of the Bowl Championship Series.

Monday’s #2 Alabama/#1 LSU BCS National Championship Game earned a 13.8 overnight rating on ESPN, down 14% from last year (AUB/ORE: 16.1), and down 24% from 2010 (ALA/TEX: 18.2, ABC).

The 13.8 overnight is the lowest ever for the BCS National Championship Game (14 telecasts). The previous record low was a 14.3 for the 2002 Rose Bowl (MIA/NEB).

Notably, the three lowest overnights for the BCS National Championship Game have come in years when there was a controversy regarding which teams should play. The 2002 (14.3) and 2004 (14.4) games featured teams — Nebraska and Oklahoma, respectively — that had failed to win their conference.

Not as long as universities presidents are being bought off by ESPN and the bowls belive that the current system is what's best for student-athletes.

I can't wait to see how ESPN would explain how a match of 2 teams with small fan bases in triple-digits markets out rated 'Game of the Century 2'.

Roll Tide! I understand the sentiment behind why we shouldn't have been there and wish we could've just had a rematch for the SEC title and not the BCS one, or even just delayed the rematch until next year, but it was fun as hell to watch us return and stomp LSU in such a decisive manner.

Really, just feel glad Alabama won't win it next year but from auburn last year to Bama again this year we will let you other states win one soon, like in a year.
