I'm just remembering back to the days of Season 1 when he actually was eligible to be nominated for Best Actor, whereas now when he's basically been a background character until now. I did really enjoy his plotline this episode, and I thought the proposal was cute, though I hated the song and laughed out loud when Artie threw himself in the pool. The Artie storyline was okay. I really enjoy Becky as a character and I'm glad she got some time in the spotlight, but the "Beckyvention" they held for him was a little strange. I did like their dinner scene, though. Every week, I say that Glee has topped itself by doing the queerest thing on TV. This week, it was "Summer Nights." Just a weird way to start things out. Sam and Mercedes both sounded great, but it just seemed an odd way to bring viewers back after a month. Also Damien did not sound good in his little solos (hell, even Sugar sounded better), and it seems like they're just pushing him into the background and giving him a few obligatory lines every episode. I thought NeNe's little monologue to Sam was funny, and I don't really know her so I can't talk about my expectations of her beforehand. Though her delivery did make it sound like a Tracy Morgan character. And BLEH at Finn and Rachel. It was nice getting a little character development from Finn, but as soon as he said he had to talk to her about something, I knew what was gonna happen. Honestly, I just don't care about either of their characters, and I had to agree with Santana when she said Rachel's song was kind of making it all about her. Very happy to see a minimal amount of Kurt and basically no Blaine, Brittany (who I feel they've been using in excess), and Quinn (who was prone to overexposure after her storyline in the front half).

I loved Becky's inner voice being Helen Mirren. I thought the Becky intervention was a low point. Also the sudden revelation that Finn's dad wasn't a war hero - just a poor disgraced G.I. who died of a drug overdose in Cincinnati. I didn't like that at all. It bugged me. It was an okay episode. I'm not sure how it compares to the last few though since I haven't gotten around to watching them. I am looking forward to the Michael episode mainly because I'm interested in seeing the direction they take the Sebastian character.

I am usually the one who enjoys the episodes everyone hates... so I guess it's natural for me to not have liked last night's episode... I did enjoy Helen Miran as the voice and Nene was a nice surprise.. the rest of the show.. bleah... I hated Summer Nights. The group totally knows that Sam was homeless and poor, singing about how much dough he spent and what kind of car he had was wrong. Sam's part refers to a girl no one knows.. they all know Mercede's friends and that she doesn't 'put out'. It was a stupid choice. The Beckyvention would have worked if they were telling Artie not to lead Becky on as it my 'break her heart' and he didn't see what he was doing. Telling him he shouldn't date Becky because of who she is was just rude.. the same way Sugar was rude to him, but at least she was honest about it to his face. The synchronized swimming team is just WAY too over the top.. especially when men don't participate in that sport AND this school can't afford a bus for the Glee kids to take to sectionals, yet can host a hockey team and a swimming team and.... and why wasn't Emma just freaking out a little bit when Will was dripping dirty pool water on her while he was proposing.. and.. NOT ENOUGH QUINN.

The "Summer Nights" number was cute and the "proposal" was sweet. Who really spends time thinking about Sam being poor or Emma's phobia during those scenes? Less Quinn was needed, bitch has been unlikable this season. She needs to get ish together.
