Posts: 2072 (01/14/12 10:47 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	On season three being sixteen episodes: I think if they take the entirety of what happens at the prison and put it into this season it'll be way too crammed full of stuff. That's like a dozen+ new characters introduced, just as many killed off, major characters being abducted, coming back, going out again, cleaning out the prison twice, then the clusterfuck that is the prison attack (which would require pretty much an entire episode by itself). That being said, dividing the prison over two seasons feels like it would be drawn out, somehow. Though I guess that's better than the alternative. My guess is that season three will end with either Rick/Michonne/Glen held hostage by the Governor and Rick having his hand lopped off. Or maybe Rick/Michonne/Glen/Alice/Caesar returning to find the prison overrun. Then season four ends with the prison attack and zombies closing in on that house where Carl is taking care of a comatose Rick? They'd better include Dr. Stephens and Alice. >:c (

At some point it would be virtually impossible for them to keep that major of a change going and follow the source material in any meaningful way. Assuming they intend to. If not, then it doesn't matter I guess.

Part 1 - Entry to the Prison 1-2 episodes Part 2 - Serial Killer 3-8 episodes Part 3 - Prisoners vs Rick & company 1-2 episodes Part 4 - The Govener 3 episodes, ends with the escape I think the idea of having a murderer on the loose is something that BG only did an episode on, but WD could cover half a season with.

If they really try to cram in 6 arcs of story into one 16-episode season, then this writing team is even more wretched than I believe. And if they're smart enough to introduce the governor early in season 3 and paint him as a legitimate opponent to Rick and pals, then fans won't start bitching even once they've been at the prison for several episodes. The reason people hate the farm is because the characters haven't had a legitimate threat since they've been there. Though some of you may not have noticed, since you are actual TWD fans and not curious passerbys watching in morbid fascination, the "theme" this season has been leadership. What makes a good leader? Is it Rick's constant moralizing? Or Shane's gun-ho recklessness? Or something in the middle? Well, the show will be siding with Rick, as Shane will be killed (maybe by Carl, but I'm not positive since the show is toned down from the source material), thus installing Rick as the group's righteous leader. Rick will probably close out the season with his "famous" We-Are-the-Walking-Dead speech, as TWD is that kind of show which tries for big, dramatic speeches but usually fails.
