They can come and build me a kitchen any day. Hopefully on a hot day so the older one can take his shirt off and I can bring him something cold to drink. Often. Plus, the designs are modern and clean and I like that. The second show is Man on Call (I think). Not so great but I think it's mostly because the guys are freaked out by the camera. They just need to learn to ignore it and act naturally and not try to be so over-dramatic. Hmmmm. Maybe these are on DIY network Well, one or the other and they're both essentially the same. Caught Novagratz again last night but I didn't really like either design. Still, the first weeks were good so I'll stay with it.

They are super-hot and I actually like their personalities, but I don't think they're that talented. They make weird design and color decisions. I think they're trading off their looks more than their ability ... e.g., the incorrectly measured stove, the f'ed up red upholstery, the cafe table for a family of six, the crazy cutting board, the orange cabinets with the red backsplash, the dining room table ... and those are just off the top of my head. They should hire a professional designer to help them. That said, I've watched every episode. I don't know the other show you mentioned.

It appears they are down to the "show 3 properties, pick the best" so why would this be a separate show from regular house hunters, or even "my first place". I think the new host for this show is just too pushy and her acting is terrible.

I just watched one where they put in a continuous 15 foot stainless counter in the kitchen and it looked really nice. The layout was much better than what was in there before. I'll have to wait to see what other 'designs' come up. How long has the show been on in the States? The other show is called Brothers on call. I saw the advertisement for it again tonight but still don't know which channels I was on!

I'm not into funky kitchens, and I wonder if the owners have a say on what kind of look they're going for. One thing I hated about Trading Spaces was that the designers had free range, and homeowners hated it when they got Hildy cuz they knew she was going to do something funky..... They run a Handyman outfit their dad started.

Though with the Bath Crashers I fast forward to the reveal. A couple of things I am sick of on the make over shows are those damn fake black white or grey animal heads. They are everywhere as are those white ceramic owls. Bummed they got a new host for Property Virgins

They seem to have to do something unusual in every bathroom and I'm always surprised no one seems to object to some of the weirder details. I agree the idea of a coffee maker in the bathroom is disgusting! One design that really confused me was a wood panel wall in the bathroom, I guess they can seal it? I would think that would collect moisture and cause a mold issue.

Posts: 20874 (01/29/12 02:04 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I read somewhere that Sandra from Property Virgins is going to host a show where she specializes in helping single women explore home owndership and include more of the background stuff that a buyer has to do to get ready for the papermill to get approved for a mortgage, etc. Although Vanilla Ice is on DIY channel, eventually the show airs again on HGTV. I really like his new season. The first 2 shows they just aired focused on the yard, landscape and fancy pool that they put in. Also, they built a tiki hut on an island in the middle of the pool. On the island is a free form in ground jacuzzi and an outdoor kitchen that includes a pizza oven. It was amusing watching them convert the bridge they brought in to get to the island. Apparently the building code requires 8 feet of clearance to the bottom of the pool river that is at the point in the landscape. Altogether, he spent $200,000 on these 2 episodes, but wow, it looks great.

Grossed me OUT--what if someone needed to take a dump? Heck, I can barely make myself drink water from the bathroom tap, even though the sink is like 8 feet away and around a wall from the toilet!!! Haven't seen the new version of Property Virgins, and doubt I'll bother. I mostly watched it for Sandra, anyway. She's da bomb.
