Crown will pass to William and Kate's first-born even if it is a girl, Queen confirms
A future first-born child of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge would take the throne regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl, under changes announced yesterday.
As the Daily Mail reported in October, an overhaul of the laws of Royal succession will put an end to the system of male preference primogeniture, whereby the eldest son automatically becomes next in line even if he has an older sister.
Speaking at the State Opening of Parliament, the Queen confirmed that the Government is to introduce a Bill to scrap this discriminatory rule, which has been in place since 1688.

The news always refers to Kate as 'the Duchess of Cambridge." I know that is her title, but why isn't she called "Princess Kate"?

It's not technically correct, just as "Princess Diana" was not technically correct. It's just a lot easier to call them "Princess __________."

Does anyone think Charles will die before QE II? Problem solved.

It is tradition for the Queen to bestow several new titles on her royal descendants upon marriage. It was always assumed she would give William a dukedom. She also granted him an earldom and a barony.

Had William not accepted these titles, he would have retained his title of Prince William and Kate would have been known as Princess William.
When Charles takes the throne, William and Kate will become Prince and Princess of Wales. She still will not be Princess Kate. She will be Her Royal Highness, Princess William, the Princess of Wales. Diana was never Princess Diana, she was Her Royal Highness, Princess Charles, the Princess of Wales. The media created that title for her. Sigh.

Kate will become the Queen Consort when William takes the throne and then she will become Queen Catherine.

That was really nasty of QEII to take Diana's royal status away from her after the divorce. After all, she would have been the mother of a king.

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal never kept it hidden that she would never curtsey to Diana even as Queen. As PoW, Diana outranked Anne. I'm certain she's just as crusty about showing respect to Kate.

The Windsors are all inbreds and some of the nastiest people you will ever know.

Charles and Camilla are stopping in my city on their Canadian tour this month. Heritage Canada held a draw to select 100 people to attend a symphony performance with Charles and Camila on May 23. I entered and was selected. I bought a new fascinator on Friday for the evening.

William will be free until Charles dies.

Although, I'm not really sure when the rules changed to allow Charles to take the throne. Anyone who watched the movie the King's Speech would know that Charles shouldn't be allowed to take the throne because Camilla's ex-husband is still alive. But who knows, he's in his 70s and might die before Charles takes the throne, making it a moot point.

That was 75 or so years ago. When Chuckie wanted to marry Cammy, he was given permission from both the Queen and the Church, I believe, as times have changed. So he's still in line for the throne.

I got to meet Prince Charles, Camilla and Prime Minister Stephen Harper! Here's a photo of the program from the evening.

This is a photo of the official party walking through the crowd at the post-concert reception. Camilla was in there somewhere.

I took my grandma as my guest to the event. Here's a photo of us together. I had to get a woman to take it in the bathroom since no photos were allowed at the event.

I took the day off work to watch the coverage of the royal visit on TV that day. I also had an appointment to get an updo. Here's the shaky photo my stylist took at the salon.

My grandma went to see Queen Lizzy when she was in Sask. But being an amazing grand child, I flat out refused to go. She took pics of the event then tried to upload them to her computer. Ended up deleting all of her network connections and replacing them with pictures of the Queen. Still no clue how the FUCK she managed to do that.
