CBS’ The Good Wife has finally tapped an actor to play Kalinda’s scary-ass estranged husband, and it’s a surprising choice to say the least. Rather than stunt-cast the plum part, Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King have awarded the recurring role to British actor Marc Warren. Marc who, you ask? The 45-year-old thesp is best known Stateside for his supporting gig as Master Sergeant Albert Blithe in HBO’s Band of Brothers. In the UK, he gained fame for his starring role in the drama series Hustle. Warren’s additional credits include guest stints on Doctor Who and Highlander: The Series. On The Good Wife, Warren will play Nick, Kalinda’s dangerous, master manipulator ex whom she ran away from pre-Lochkart Gardner, and whose return she was prepared for — lock, stock, and barrel — at the close of last month’s Season 3 finale.

CBS’ The Good Wife has tapped the ER vet to join the Season 4 cast in the recurring role of Maddie, a self-made billionaire who started her own Internet company and is the doyenne of Chicago Democratic politics. As such, Eli eagerly pursues her money and endorsement for Peter’s campaign. Tierney — who for half of ER Season 6 overlapped with Good Wife lead Julianna Margulies, playing Abby Lockhart to her Carol Hathaway — is slated to appear in as many as 10 episodes of the acclaimed CBS drama.

Marc Warren and Moira Tierney together (though I doubt they'll actually be in a scene together) on the same show is unbelievable. They need to bring more ER alums.

The actress/singer will recur as a sharp political reporter who won’t stop until she’s got all of the details about the Florrick campaign… and marriage. Chenoweth’s petite journo will first appear in the fall premiere and will tangle with Alicia (Julianna Marguiles) and Peter (Chris Noth) throughout the season. Chenoweth played Carlene on the ABC comedy GCB before it was cancelled in May. Prior to that, she appeared on Glee, Pushing Daisies and The West Wing, among others. I loved her in West Wing and then nothing since then. I hope to God she doesn't sing. Why do the casting people keep rotating the same actors that no one wants to see? Is there no other talent out there? Surely there must be some other actress that is looking for work. And I don't like the role either.

Network ratings aren't what they used to be anyway. If they placed it on Friday I'd be worried, that's the graveyard. Plus CBS owns the show so licensing fees are low and they'd want to hit the magic 100 episode order for syndication rights to really rake in the dough. I actually liked Matthew Perry's character and would love to see him return. Canning has run his course, but would also love to see Martha Plimpton (although most likely not due to Raising Hope) and Elspeth (Carrie Preston) can't wait for the new season to start - but is it just me or are there fewer new episodes than other network tv shows?
