Posts: 580 10/04/12 06:45 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Probst has said in the past that you can't "steal" a HII if it's in someone's bag (as it's their possessions), but has said when contestants re-hide the idol it's fair game if someone else stumbles upon it. What would production do if Pete just decided to go back and dig it up and take it? Would this be allowed, technically?

But I'm sure SEG would just make it up depending on whether it favoured their precious returnees or not.

Posts: 26 10/04/12 08:15 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I can answer this. No, he can't take it. I had hidden my idol in Samoa, and Bill dug it up and threw it out to sea. I didn't know who did it at first, and I threw a fit. Production basically pulled EVERYONE aside one by one and went on a scavenger hunt to find it. I thought MIKE had taken it, but he swore on his mom's life it wasn't him and then I turned my sights on Bill. Leif, ever the squealer (lol), told me he saw Bill throw something way into the ocean. At that point production was questioning Bill, and then about 30 minutes later production returned with me my idol. So I think once you have it it's YOURS unless you specifically say, "I want to give it to [Survivor]" Another thing is when I was medically removed I didn't have the idol on me. They had to ask me who I wanted to give it to. I didn't even think about the idol until Jeff asked me about it and then a member of production brought it over. I think if it could be taken they would've just removed me and left it until someone said, "Oh my God! I can take this for mine now." (When Bill threw my idol in the ocean is when I started hating him, but we were told it couldn't be discussed on camera and everyone was to act like it never happened because it's against the rules to TAKE someone's idol no matter where it is.)

What if they stumble upon it accidentally and assume they found it? Will production inform them it's already been found and they can't have it? Be interesting is this type of scenario comes up again, but one of Production's favourites end up stealing it. Bet they let it slide.

Will production inform them it's already been found and they can't have it? Yeah, I think if anyone got close to it cameras would be already following them. So if they went for it they'd either be pulled for a confessional or told to go somewhere else to get them away from the area, and if they physically picked it up they'd be told someone else is in possession of it. Be interesting is this type of scenario comes up again, but one of Production's favourites end up stealing it. Bet they let it slide. I think that's also a very good point! Once the rule is made ON AIR it's a permanent rule. So say Kim had hidden here idol, and Troyzan dug it up and they LET him keep it and it was shown on AIR. Then obviously if it happens in Philippines they can't not let someone do that. I think the problem production sees is way too much focus on the idol and none of actual game play. People would be too concerned about possessing the idol and the audience would basically be subjected to 40 minutes of idol stealing.

Obviously they couldn't have located the original if he had thrown it out to sea. No, it was the original. It was soaking wet, and the way our camp was we were on a reef so the water wasn't that deep. I think he just told them about where he threw it, and the divers got it.
