Honestly I think there are a lot of people who voted based on the Top 2 performances and had Diana knocked DCOL out of the park again and had they actually been fair and given them an appropriate winner's single that would have suited both of them she would have won over Fantasia. At least partly DCOL on Top 2 night got fucked up b/c of AI.
Do you honestly think "I Believe" was suited to MANTASIA? I still think to this day that it was skewed towards
Diana, with it's sappy rainbow-n'-unicorn lyrics and boring, unoriginal pop-ballad melody. Diana lost fair-and-square because of her lack of stage
presence, lack of charisma, inability to rally her fanbase with great performances in the finale, and irresponsibility with equipment.
And I doubt Nigel sabotaged Diana's performance. This was like Ruben vs. Clay: female edition. On one side, the steadily-improving soul/R&B singer
(Ruben/Mantasia), and on the other side, the boring, shrieky ballad singer (Clay/Dibot). I bet that finale was his wet dream for months afterward.
The one unfair thing they did to Dibot was making her sing "I Believe" before the winner was announced on results night. Not only was it
winner's single overkill, they might as well just have told her she didn't win after the votes were counted, because that's what the schedulers
did.
