I honestly don't understand it. The Bay Area has some of the best public transportation systems in the US outside of NYC, and also the costliest gas in the continental US. Although given the opportunity that thousands of more people would ride CalTrain and BART here because of gas prices, CalTrain hikes fares $0.50 per zone to a minimum $4.50 round trip? And BART is thinking about raising all fares by a dime as well? Talk about cashing in on the gas crisis. It costs me less to drive to where I need to go at the prices that public transportation is now charging.
