ooooh I watched the Sharpe's Rifles series on PBS. Outstanding. I had trouble watching the James Bond flick with him as the rogue 00.
Fave ep was the one with the rocketeers in Spain. It's hard to get more British than that.

The Sherlock Holmes mysteries with Jeremy Brett, who to this day owns that role.
The Hercule Poirot mysteries with David Suchet, who reinvented that role and also owns it.
British TV never was this good and hasn't been since.
