stationery vs. stationary: stationEry with an E for envelope
capital vs. capitol: capitAl with an A like capital A
desert vs. dessert: letter S twice in dessert because you always want seconds of dessert
Loose vs. lose bugs the crap out of me. I'm a fitness instructor and I post on a message board for fitness professionals. It's unbelievable how many of them do not know the difference between loose and lose.
Grammatically, my pet peeve is SEEN instead of SAW. Example: "I seen JLo on tv. She is going to loose all her baby weight by giving up desert and riding a stationery bike!!!!1!!"
