Sure, but his real job is to prevent other players from earning money as well. That's what drives the show. If we were to get a Mole reveal in the finale that went something along the lines of, "In the first two episodes, Clay didn't really do anything. Then, in episode 3, he sat out the tasks! Cunning Mole behavior from our expert Mole, Clay," the audience would be furious. The Mole has to perform some sort of active sabotage, which Clay really has not done thus far (not to mention he's been used for nothing but narration).
