There has NEVER been a rocker on Idol that sucksters haven't accused of being a phony and not a real rocker (including Bo, Chris Daughtry, and David Cook). Simon calls this the "sheep in wolf's clothing" effect: the idea that a REAL rocker would never appear on Idol, because they'd be selling out. Sometimes these accusations have merit and do stick (i.e. Constantine), sometimes they don't. I agree that Gina sometimes appears to be a kid's or middle aged adult's idea of what a rocker SHOULD look like, rather than the real thing, but that doesn't mean she ISN'T the real thing. I think she just has tacky taste. Try rewatching her version of Call Me When You're Sober and you might reconsider.
