Actually, my grandmother grew up in Kansas and then lived her married life in Pennsylvania! I'm the one that grew up in the South! Scruffy knew what I was talking about - and this all usually came out at Christmas when they would get the mixed nuts out for a cocktail party. Even as a young child, I was mortified.
