What about when you ask a close family member what s/he wants, and they tell you where to get them a gift card?
My SIL is the only one who is ghetto enough to ask for that. I tell her I don't buy gift cards. She then tries to get the reciept so she can return whatever I bought her. She is the cheapest person in the UNIVERSE
I don't mind doing GC's as add-on gifts, but I can't just hand a gift card to someone for Christmas. I do like to give them for wedding and baby showers though, as that way the bride or mom to be can take a look at everything she got and decide what else she needs. Plus, you end up with a lot of loot at those things anyways, you basically extend their fun by allowing them to shop more afterwards
