Possible explanations:
She had once been interested in the job, but between that point and the actual interview, she had changed her mind.
She had been interested in winning, and getting the title, but not in doing the actual work.
She had been interested in getting a job, any job, and didn't really care what it involved. (Obviously, this didn't apply here, but it can be a common occurrence in the real world.)
Inertia. (Also explains why some students are in college.)
