Female dancers need to be light because of the lifts. You can't do the variety of lifts with a bigger girl that you can with a smaller one.
The university I went to had a big dance program, part of their ballet grade was their weight. They had to keep it consistent because that's what would be asked of them in the professional world.
My daughter just graduated with a degree in dance. She is considering auditioning for SYTYCD.

It was a tough program for the dancers. I was a voice major. I have many classmates that made it big. Congrats to your daughter.
