-- 73. HELEN GLOVER --
Helen is interesting because she kind of like a guy. Very dude-esque. She was practical and tough and kind of militaristic (and I guess she did come from a military family so that makes sense). Really the only girly thing about her is the fact that she liked to orally share recipes with the entire starving tribe. I guess she was like a huge part of Thailand despite getting the token UTR spot at fourth, but the only remotely interesting thing I remember about her is that she always ALMOST flipped on Brian and also, at one point, she threatened murder/suicide after spending too much time with resident kooky old broad Jan. Thailand wasn't a good season to me and Chuay Ghan wasn't even the tribe I liked, so Helen really couldn't be ranked any higher than this. I did want her to win by the F6 but oh well. And I hate her teeth.
On Helen's personality: Helen was tough on the outside but secretly very sensitive. Brian's eventual betrayal of Helen cut her deep despite the fact that he had just done it to Ted (and so did she, actually). Helen was also very sensitive and supportive during Grindgate, but she almost came across two-faced and gossip-y too, which is exactly what I would be doing if i were bored and starving. Helen was pretty boring though for someone so unique.
On Helen's gameplay: Just like everyone else on her tribe, Helen thought she had a special bond with Brian and was going to two with him despite the fact that Brian told her that once they get to three they'd have to "figure it out". Smooth Brian. Helen was kind of an idiot about Brian so it's hard to give her credit for anything else. She said she trusted him because he had such a great work ethic or something random. Uh, ok. She was limited in her ability to manuever though, because of Jan's inability to strategize and her disinterest in winning.
On Helen's placement: There are things I like about Helen. She hated Clay almost as much as I did, for instance. But mostly Helen was kind of sour and serious, and she didn't leave a huge impression on me. People insist she should have been on the first All-Stars but I do not agree. She's this high in my rankings because she was my favorite to win Thailand for a little less than half the season, and that has to count for something.
