** 60. CHRISTY SMITH **
Christy is, obv, the first and only female contestant with a disability (is that pc to say? disability?) so that in and of itself is very legendary, but she was also an entitled drama-queen martyr who thought others should cater to her limitations as if this is not a cutthroat game for a million dollars. Christy seemed nice but I think she had some issues with not fitting in, which is understandable, and she projected those onto the women in her tribe. It was always something with her. "They talk after dark wah" "they went to take a bath without me boo hoo" "they don't go out of their way to include me in anything or talk to me even though I never talk to them either", etc. I got the impression she expected her evil stepsisters to put forth the effort to bond with her and not the other way around but that's just my impression. It would be a difficult situation to deal with and she did so fairly well, but she definitely had some issues.
On Christy's personality: Christy was very emotional out in the Amazon. She cried a lot about people not being more considerate of her hearing but I think it's kind of a fine line and I understand why the other contestants didn't do much to cater to her because I would wonder if she was insulted. Like she wanted to be treated like everyone else. But whatever, it would be a very isolating experience, especially if you couldn't communicate as well with everyone. I remember when she got her letter from her deaf friend and they were kind of discriminatory against the hearing. Not cool.
On Christy's gameplay: Jaburu was such a clusterfuck I can't even begin to navigate any one particular strategy, but I do think Christy was set up pretty nicely after the swap. Obviously she would've lasted a lot longer had she not gotten a big head about how influential a swing vote she was. It was kind of funny to watch her toy with everyone and relish in her obvious power and then be booted, especially because she was so bitter about losing to Jenna and Heidi
On Christy's placement: Christy was like 90% of the drama early in Amazon and she had so many classic moments that it would be impossible for me to rate her any lower. She's such an icon in the Survivor franchise, for being a deaf contestant and also the "face" of clique cruelty
