I wish it had been Phil... Besides the fact that he can't sing, he's just so out-of-place. Seeing him up there in some "trendy" clothes and goofy cap that he obviously would never have worn in his old life, it just seems like he's trying too hard. Like all Idol has been for him is a way to test out a new image.

I've never really liked Haley all that much. Actually, not true. I didn't even notice her and then all of a sudden, she started pissing me off. I've been wanting her to leave for awhile now, so I'm happy. Overjoyed. ;)

I think she's pretty too, but clearly she is too heavy/out of shape to do all the running around while singing. I think that's why she seemed so weak in her higher vocal range, which is completely unlike her when she just stands there and sings.

So much for the 'b/c she's the only white girl left, she'd golden for a few more weeks' shit I said it then and I'll say it again..b/c she's white, she wasn't going to get any special treatment. If there were all white girls left and 1 black girl that wasn't doing too well in the competition, that sistah would be carried at least til a white chick was taken out b/c you just know if she was then voted off the following week (like Haley was after Gina) all the pathetic AA's would be screaming about RACE. Ya really think if things were reversed and there were 3 white girls that pwnd the comeptition in vocal power and 1 black girl that wasn't as good as the females and hated by the judges and she got voted out, that would stop the crazy AA's from pulling the race card? I think not...

The only time racism got called was when Boomie got kicked off, and even then people quickly realized that vote splitting was the real culprit--that, plus she needed the Wild Card to even make the top 12.

Was there not a huge "racism rant" when Tamyra went as well?
I seem to remember the MSN message boards (who at that time was the major message board for FOX back then...so it had to be season one) banning everyone who was NOT in favor of Queen Tamyra or who even wanted to speak about racism in any way.. It got really ugly...like things do when you have 14 year old's posting. I know I got banned about some neutral position I responded to and never went back. |
