Melinda Doolittle.
Sway. A monochrome gown, and a sultry-ish sashay toward center-stage. Understated vocal in nearly perfect pitch begins. The dancing is kept to a minimum through the first two verses, just a very slight ... sway back and forth. The audience stands and claps in rhythm. I like the attitude she brings to this, but it's basically a superior lounge act. Camarero! Traigame una cerveza! A 7. Randy: These genres we do are very interesting. Another solid performance. I dunno if it was your best, but another solid performance. At the end you echoed a little Celia Cruz. Paula: Sultry. Smooth. It wasn't one of the performances where you had to wow us. It was subtle, sexy, beautiful. Simon: It had to happen, Melinda. I didn't like it. That song is all about personality. You appeared much older than you are. Very lounge, cabaret. The ending was quite good, but someone as good as you has to put on a wow performance every week. A bit lazy, wooden. You're better than that. |
