I like Ms. Jay, his comments are always right on. As for the other Jay -- yuck!

I have to give Janice her props- When retarded Kimora implied she believed that Elyse had an eating disorder, Janice said "That's hearsay!" She kept it real and stood up for Elyse.

I will definitely miss Janice. Her comments were pretty much right on the money all the time. Twiggy will be an interesting replacement, will she fulfill the "bitchy judge" role that Janice left behind? And considering Jay sees them a lot more than anyone else, he seems like an appropriate judge.

:( Janice was hilarious...I don't know if I'll really want to keep watching if Twiggy can't fill her shoes.
I'm scared Twiggy is going to try too hard to be like Janice and is going to end up being a watered down, crap replacement |

The only way they can save this show is if...
|
The only way they can save this show is if they fire the casting director(s) for cycles 3 and 4. Janice sort of saved this show from being a complete and utter crapfest. This show needs to go back to model wannabes who could actually become models not short, stumpy, baby mamas, "I wanna marry my boyfriend back home", whiny ass bitches. They also need to stop the high concept photo shoots and product placement plugs. I want to see misogynist fashions on beautiful, tall, thin girls. Is that so wrong?

Well, if Janice is gone it only makes sense that Nole is gone, too...the only thing he was good for was Janice to snark at....now there is no reason for him to be there.

That's what Janice leaving will do. Or it could be that the show's over and this cast sucked so hard no one cares what they do now
I hope Janice guests on at least one episode of the second season of Project Runway, even though their deliberations and Q & A only seem to last 2 minutes. I also hope she starts a series in which she searches for America's REAL next top (fashion) model. No short, fat, 27 year old babymamas there. She may be batshit crazy, but she knows what works. BTW, when would everyone say this show jumped? I can't decide between Elyse not winning season 1, Eva winning season 3, or Noelle being cast. |

I bet Janice asked for more money...either that or Tyra got tired of her stealing her thunder...either way, its a big loss to the show...

Elyse losing could have been a jump, but Season 2 was still great, so it hadn't jumped by then.

OMG! YES! New thread! Anyway, Janice was my fave judge. She may have been portrayed as a bitch but I thought she was extremely funny. Quote: Lol. That was one of my fave Janice moments. Of course it's not as funny in words as it was watching it but she made it funny and I will miss her so much. As for the J. vs Jay issue. Jay > J. I love them both and I'd be devastated if the show lost either but Jay is more serious and helpful. Miss J. is kinda just there to be funny. Of course she/he helps out but Jay does most of the molding of the contestants during photoshoots. |

Re: fake tits: after looking through the season 2 photos, I remembered that Catie probably also had implants:
![]() ![]() ![]() Compare those to this, which couldn't have been taken that much earlier before she appeared on the show - she was only 18 when she was on ANTM.

Janice definitely added to the show but I will not miss her. She was such a horrible bitch, I'm looking forward to seeing Twiggy.

Re: America's Next Top Model - Janice catwalks out

Cycle 3 was the jump the shark moment. Although I believe, Yaya, Nicole, Eva and Amanda had some of the best portfolios in ANTM history, they were too short to really do runway.
Cycle 2 had excellent casting. It also had a higher percentage of girls with amazing portfolios. The final four were better than the final four of all other seasons. Though I think the final three were on the same level as cycle 1. I just don't see Janice on Project Runway. She's a circus and comic relief. The contestants on that show provide the comic relief not the panel judges. The judges also don't select which models go home, the designers/contestants do. |

Fuck her "style" of commentary. Seeing her critique anything (in any way) is worthwhile. It would also burn Tyra to see her on Heidi's show.

i agree with Gokoro. even the most "cerebral" names in fashion are closet and/or afterhours FREAKS!
seeing Catie reminds me of the time when Simon Doonan scolded her: "did you think it was all going to be glamorous with people drinking margaritas telling you how fabulous you are?" people forget this is a BUSINESS of creating a fantasy lifestyle and commodifying physical beauty (a standard set by the current fashion trend and society at large). the industry is replete with idiosyncratic power-players who seem like bizarre over-the-top caricatures and are ahelluvalot nastier, more malicious than Janice could ever be. it's great that these famewhores get a dose of brutal reality. for go-sees and castings, the client is only concerned with a model's presence, portfolio, and measurements. if the model doesn't meet their criteria, they will brusquely tell them what's wrong. as i had mentioned in my previous post, Twiggy had been out of the fashion limelight for the past few decades (makes that vile fat antediluvian slag Suzy Menkes look modern) and had denounced the industry during her absence. judging from past media appearances, she will be spewing the same tired clichés and platitudes a la Paula Abdul. Miss Jay better sharpen his razor tongue, turn to uberbitch mode and be action-packed with insults to offset the stodgy brit politesse. |

Re: The only way they can save this show is if...

I don't think Elyse not winning was the moment that the show jumped the shark (because lets face it, she was smart enough to know what the judges wanted to hear, and said the exact opposite), but she at least deserved to be in the final two, as opposed to Shannon who was just...there.
The biggest problem with the show is that they *have* to cast people over 18, when in reality most models start even younger that. To counter that, they really ought to stick to casting models that are truly representative of current models in terms of height and weight, regardless of the drama quotient |
